Description
Leon D.S. Geeste is a twelve-year-old prodigy who serves as one of the head scientists of the Kingdom of Laqour. He stands 135 centimeters tall, with short blue hair and blue eyes, and was born on November 25. From a very young age, Leon demonstrated extraordinary intellect within his scientific family, and he developed a symbological weapon by the age of twelve. He is deeply invested in researching energy crystals, and his primary scientific project is a machine known as the Laqour Hope, which he aims to construct using those crystals.

In his first appearance in the capital of Lacuer, Leon attends an armory contest with his mother Florith. He shows no interest in the gladiatorial bouts and openly smirks at participants who rely on brute strength over intelligence. This early encounter highlights his core personality: he is egotistical, vain, and bratty, largely because the adults around him constantly shower him with praise for his genius. He craves recognition as an equal by those older than him, and this desire often manifests as impertinence and coldness toward others. However, when faced with a situation outside his expertise or a challenge he cannot immediately solve, his bravado crumbles and he behaves more like the vulnerable child he really is.

Leon’s role in the story begins when the main party, led by Claude C. Kenny, arrives in Lacuer seeking answers about the Sorcery Globe. Leon volunteers to travel to the Hoffman Ruins to obtain a necessary mineral for his research, and his parents suggest that Claude and his friends accompany him. This sets off a series of adventures where Leon joins the traveling group. His motivations are primarily scientific: he wants to gather the energy crystals needed to complete the Laqour Hope. As the journey progresses, his initial arrogance gradually softens. The time spent with Claude and the other companions forces him to rely on others and experience situations where his intellect alone is not enough. This experience helps him mature little by little, and he begins to show more of the childlike vulnerability beneath his cold exterior.

Key relationships include his parents, Florith and Murdoch, who support his scientific work. His bond with Claude is particularly significant; Claude’s calm, capable presence and willingness to treat Leon as a partner rather than just a child help to temper Leon’s haughtiness. Leon also interacts with other party members such as Rena, Celine, and Ashton, though his scientific-minded personality sometimes clashes with their more emotional or adventurous approaches.

In terms of abilities, Leon is the most potent magic user among his companions, possessing the highest magical potential of any mage in the group. However, his spell repertoire is relatively limited compared to other mages, making him less versatile in elemental coverage. Each spell he does know is extremely powerful and can turn the tide of battle. His scientific expertise also allows him to create symbological weapons and understand advanced mechanisms. Later in his life, after the events of the anime, he becomes a royal researcher for the Kingdom of Lacuer, focusing on continental recovery and humanitarian support.

Leon D.S. Geeste begins as a brilliant but insufferably proud child and, through his adventures and interactions with others, grows into a more well-rounded young scientist who can balance his genius with empathy and cooperation.
