Description
Inachika Akitani, known as Master, was a Japanese man born in Hamamatsu during the first era of Meiou. He lived over 500 years, becoming the oldest Beast Knight. This longevity stemmed from achieving a connection to the Akashic Records, granting him near-omniscient knowledge of past, present, and future events alongside supernatural abilities. This connection initially fostered a godlike self-perception, but centuries of outliving his numerous pupils cultivated profound regret and a realization of his own humanity. His final wish became to die before his last students, Subaru and Yukimachi, a departure from his past experiences.
In youth, he dressed traditionally in kimonos. Later in life, his appearance featured long grey hair tied in a small ponytail, large bushy eyebrows, and a prominent mustache covering his upper lip. He typically wore a large tan overcoat and a fedora-like hat, presenting a kindly, wise, and calm demeanor.
His abilities, derived from his connection to the Akashic Records and extensive esper powers, included precognition, teleportation, spatial manipulation (swapping locations of objects or himself), erecting psychic barriers, telekinesis, flight, energy projection, and forcefield creation. He could also bestow psychic powers upon others. His Domain Control generated a spherical energy field for defense, levitation, or telekinetic manipulation. A notable offensive technique was the Heavenly Jewelled Spear, a potent psychic attack used to severely injure a golem despite his weakened state near death. His precognition faded around the series' beginning due to the antagonist Animus destroying the future timeline while traveling back in time.
Across centuries, he taught many disciplines to numerous pupils, accumulating vast knowledge and experience. His mentorship extended to Beast Knights Subaru Hoshikawa (Rooster Knight) and Yukimachi Tsukishiro (Turtle Knight), whom he trained for several years before the conflict against Animus. Foreseeing his own death protecting them from a six-eyed golem, he accepted this fate. During this battle, despite dwindling powers, he sacrificed himself to save them, fulfilling his wish to predecease his students. He intentionally buried his journal, containing his life story and insights, for Yuuhi Amamiya to discover posthumously, ensuring his knowledge would aid the Beast Knights.
His legacy persisted through Subaru and Yukimachi, who inherited his teachings and powers. They demonstrated this by combining their Holding Fields into an "unbreakable shield" and "unstoppable spear," reflecting his strategic influence. The journal left for Yuuhi challenged him to confront Samidare's destructive intentions, positioning Akitani's foresight and sacrifice as enduring contributions to the battle against Animus.
