Description
Bernard Monsha is a fictional character from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory. He is a 28-year-old male who holds the rank of lieutenant in the Earth Federation Forces.

Monsha is a veteran mobile suit pilot who fought in the One Year War as a member of the legendary Immortal 4th Team, serving under the command of South Burning alongside squadron mates Alpha A. Bate and Chap Adel. His personal history includes a significant loss; he lost his romantic partner, Francois, during the Battle of Solomon, an event that deeply affected him.

In terms of personality, Monsha is defined by a combination of arrogance, lecherous behavior, and a fondness for alcohol. He is frequently seen drinking when off duty and openly mocks fellow Federation personnel who are not veterans of the One Year War. He has a noted habit of sexually harassing female crew members, including maintenance chief Mora Boscht, and repeatedly attempts to woo engineer Nina Purpleton.

Monsha possesses supreme confidence in his piloting skills, which often borders on recklessness. Upon arriving at Torrington Base, he immediately demanded to be made the pilot of the advanced RX-78GP01 Gundam "Zephyranthes". This confidence leads him to underestimate others, including Zeon remnant forces who successfully lure him into a trap, and Ensign Kou Uraki, a rookie pilot he views as a rival. His rivalry with Kou is fueled by two factors: Kou being selected to pilot the Gundam and Kou's developing relationship with Nina Purpleton, whom Monsha desires.

Monsha's role in the story is that of an experienced but antagonistic ally to the protagonist. His rivalry with Kou culminates in an unsanctioned paintball match to decide the Gundam's pilot, which Monsha loses to the less experienced but more resourceful younger man. Despite his skills, his arrogance leads to tactical errors, such as leading a search party on a wild goose chase that allows the Zeon ace Anavel Gato to escape. Following the death of his former commander, South Burning, Monsha's harsh attitude toward Kou noticeably softens. He later participates in the Albion crew's mutiny to steal the RX-78GP03 Gundam "Dendrobium," helping to hold off loyalist soldiers.

Following the events of the Delaz Fleet conflict, Monsha, along with most of the Albion's crew, is incorporated into the newly formed elite counter-insurgency unit known as the Titans to avoid charges for their mutinous actions. Expanded material describes his later life after the Titans' defeat, revealing that he fled to Mars and joined the ReZeon movement under the alias Donald, at which time he required a crutch to walk due to injuries sustained in service.

As a pilot, Monsha is highly capable and a veteran of the brutal close-quarters combat at A Baoa Qu. He is initially assigned to pilot an RGM-79N GM Custom. In addition to his combat abilities, a piece of trivia notes that he owns a pet chameleon named Mary, which served as the inspiration for the Immortal 4th Team's chameleon emblem.
