Description
Ceylan Jones, also known by his transformed name Tributon, is one of the main protagonists in the Tenkai Knights narrative. A student typically around the fifth grade, Ceylan is characterized by his friendly, outgoing, and goofy nature, often employing practical jokes such as throwing a paper airplane at a new classmate on their first day. Despite his laid-back and humorous exterior, he can be surprisingly cautious and realistic, particularly when assessing the dangers of his situation. This duality is central to his character; beneath the jester-like persona lies a young hero who occasionally struggles with self-doubt and a short temper, questioning his own value to his team.
Originally an ordinary Earth resident, Ceylan’s life changes when he and his friend are drawn into the world of Quarton. Initially, his reaction to becoming a hero is reluctance. Faced with the life-or-death reality of battling the Corrupted army, he expresses a desire to quit, seeing the fight as too dangerous. However, his inherent loyalty and sense of responsibility prevail when he refuses to let his companion face the threat alone, ultimately choosing to embrace his role as a Tenkai Knight. This internal conflict between caution and courage forms the core of his development, as he gradually overcomes his insecurities to become a reliable member of the team.
In his role within the story, Ceylan acts as both a source of comic relief and a strategic asset. As Tributon, he wields the power of ice and fights as a sniper or archer, utilizing a weapon known as the Hawk Striker, a type of bowgun. He describes his fighting style with the moniker "Tenkai Speed". Throughout the series, Ceylan achieves several significant power upgrades. He is the second Knight to unlock Titan Mode, allowing him to enlarge to twice his normal size and use a long bow blaster. Later, he accesses advanced forms such as Blizzard Tributon and the enhanced Sigma Mode, significantly increasing his combat capabilities.
Ceylan’s relationships are a driving force in his growth. His closest bond is with Guren Nash, the leader of the group, whom he befriends immediately and supports loyally. He shares a friendly but competitive rivalry with Toxsa, often bickering yet working together effectively in battle. He also experiences jealousy towards Chooki’s natural athletic and combat skills, which fuels his moments of self-doubt. His relationship with Gen is notably complex, starting with a desire for friendship, moving to betrayal upon discovering Gen’s identity as an enemy, and finally evolving into genuine camaraderie after Gen reforms. A particular bond forms with the character Kiro when Ceylan demonstrates empathy, understanding her attachment to a possession because he feels the same way about his own Core Brick.
Over the course of the narrative, Ceylan’s development focuses on his journey from an insecure boy who nearly quits to a confident hero. His low points, where he feels his skills are inferior to those of his peers, force him to confront what he truly brings to the group. By reaffirming his commitment to his friends and unlocking new powers like Titan Fusion alongside Guren, he learns that his value is not solely measured by combat prowess but by his unique spirit and loyalty. Visually, he is recognized by his blue hair, blue eyes, and his signature white hooded sweatshirt paired with a blue denim jacket featuring a gold wing design, often wearing green goggles on his head.
