TV-Series
Description
Chooki Mason is one of the main protagonists of the series and a thirteen-year-old student. He is the owner of the Core of Lydendor, one of the legendary Tenkai Knights, and later unlocks the ability to enter Elemental Mode, where he is known as Lydendor Tenkai Lightning Strike. His appearance is characterized by bright emerald green eyes and hair that blends yellow bangs with ginger tones, which he pulls back into a short ponytail. He typically wears a navy blue t-shirt under a yellow, sleeveless jacket vest with a metal shoulder pad, paired with dark grey athletic sweatpants and white sneakers.
Chooki possesses a calm and composed disposition, rarely losing his temper. He is depicted as a natural all-rounder who excels in both athletics and academics, as he puts genuine effort into everything he attempts. He is the best athlete on his team and always looks forward to a new challenge, though he becomes notably disturbed when confronted with something he is not good at, such as fishing. In battle, Chooki is a skilled strategist who often formulates plans for the group and almost never backs down from a fight, demonstrating a high level of confidence in his abilities. His primary motivation stems from a deep sense of loyalty to his friends, and he is willing to put himself at risk to protect them.
Within the narrative, Chooki is one of four boys chosen to protect both Earth and the planet Quarton from the forces of the corrupted warlord Vilius. Alongside his friend Guren Nash, he serves as one of the unofficial leaders of the group, embodying responsibility while their teammates Ceylan Jones and Toxsa Dalton provide lighter moments. His initial encounter with Guren and Ceylan is not friendly, as Chooki and Toxsa initially believe their own partnership is sufficient and reject the idea of a larger team. However, after a joint battle against their enemies, Chooki changes his mind and agrees to form a unified group of four knights. He maintains a close friendship with Toxsa Dalton despite their opposing interests in sports and video games, and although he is often annoyed by Toxsa, he remains a loyal friend. In one notable incident, Chooki takes a hit from a Jinx Cannon meant for Toxsa, becoming cursed with extreme clumsiness and bad luck that compromises his abilities. Touched by a good luck charm offered by Toxsa, Chooki overcomes the curse through willpower and encouragement, which allows him to unlock his Titan Mode for the first time, making him the third knight to achieve this enhancement. He is also cousins with a character named Kiiro, and the two get along well.
As the Tenkai Knight Lydendor, whose armor is thematically based on a wasp or bee, his primary attribute is lightning. His combat abilities include wielding a short blade for melee combat that can also be shot out on a chain to function as a flail. He carries a shield equipped with three curved blades that he can throw and command to return to him like a boomerang. After unlocking Titan Mode, Lydendor grows to roughly twice his normal size, and his shield transforms into a large shuriken, which he uses both defensively and offensively. Chooki frequently uses sports terminology when discussing battle strategies on Quarton or planning attacks, reflecting his athletic mindset.
