Description
Lucca Saarinen is an Elbaff student at Ansullivan Dragonar Academy, recognized as a prodigy among Dragonars. She holds the record as the youngest person ever to become a Dragonar, a testament to her natural talent and early bond with a dragon. Despite this achievement, she struggles with deep personal insecurities. Her personality is timid and kind, to the point that she often blames herself excessively and fears unintentionally hurting others with her words. This softness causes tension with her dragon partner, Gawain, who scolds her for being too gentle. At the start of her story, she experiences serious trouble with Gawain, which threatens both their partnership and her standing at the academy.

Her motivations are driven by a desire to overcome her self-doubt and to be worthy of the trust placed in her as a Dragonar. She wants to strengthen her bond with Gawain and prove herself to her peers. After the protagonist Ash Blake approaches her and helps resolve the issues with her dragon, she begins to open up and gain confidence. This turning point allows her to take on a more active role within the academy. She becomes the secretary of the Student Council, applying her intelligence and diligence in a supportive capacity. Later, she joins the Order of the Avalon Knights, a group dedicated to protecting the realm.

Key relationships shape her development. Her bond with Ash is crucial; his intervention gives her the courage to confront her fears and trust others. She also forms strong connections with fellow student council members, including Rebecca Randall and Silvia Lautreamont, who help her feel accepted and valued. Her relationship with Gawain evolves from one of frustration to mutual respect as they learn to work together.

Notable abilities include her exceptional aptitude as a Dragonar, demonstrated by her early mastery of dragon handling. She is skilled in coordinating with Gawain in combat and later contributes to battles alongside the Avalon Knights. Her growth from a self‑critical recluse to a capable and reliable ally is a central part of her arc.
