Lucca Sarlinen is a student at Ansullivan Dragonar Academy and a member of the Elbaff, a race of forest elves historically known for their dragon breeding skills. She serves as the secretary of the Student Council after being encouraged by Ash Blake, who helped her work through her personal insecurities. Later in the story, she also becomes a member of the Order of the Avalon Knights. Her partner dragon is Gawain.

Lucca initially has an aloof personality, often moving at her own pace and sometimes coming across as absent-minded. She is fundamentally timid and kind-hearted, and she tends to blame herself rather than others even when she fears she might have caused harm. An accident in which she fell from Gawain left her with a fear of riding her own dragon, and Gawain himself grew reluctant to carry her out of concern for her safety. This fear becomes a central obstacle she must overcome.

Her motivations are driven by a desire to support her friends and fulfill her duties. She values loyalty and is deeply devoted to those she cares about, particularly Rebecca Randall, whose friendship helps Lucca grow more confident over time. Ash Blake also plays a key role in her development by offering reassurance and helping her face her fears.

In terms of abilities, Lucca is a highly skilled dragon rider. She is capable of performing maneuvers such as dancing while standing on Gawain's back as he flies. This talent is linked to a technique unique to the Elbaff called the Dragon Dance. Additionally, she has knowledge of herbs and uses them to prepare tea or medicine, contributing to the wellbeing of those around her. Her development throughout the series focuses on overcoming her fear of riding, building self-assurance, and deepening her bonds with her fellow students and knights.
