Description
Daizaburo Gowa is the patriarch of the powerful Gowa family and the head of Gowa Instruments, a major corporation involved in the development of Tactical Armor mecha for the Japanese military. He is a man of significant authority and foresight, deeply entrenched in both the corporate and spiritual legacies of his ancient clan. Daizaburo stands at a height of 167 centimeters and has grey hair and black eyes. He is the husband of Yukino Gowa and the father of four sons, Kazukiyo, Kiyotsugu, Kiyoharu, and Yushiro, as well as a daughter, Misuzu.

A man in his sixties with blood type A, Daizaburo is initially presented as a cold and pragmatic figure, viewing even his own children, particularly Yushiro, as tools to be used for the family's grand ambitions. He oversees the development of the TAs and the mystical experiments to summon the entity known as Gasaraki, believing that the true power of their weapons can only be unlocked through supernatural means tied to ancient Shinto rituals and Noh dance. In the early stages of the story, he appears ruthless and driven, willing to push his sons, including Yushiro, into dangerous situations as test subjects to further the family's goals of power and influence.

However, Daizaburo's character is defined by a significant transformation. As the series progresses, and particularly as his eldest son Kazukiyo reveals his own treacherous and totalitarian ambitions, Daizaburo's hidden paternal instincts emerge. He recognizes that Kazukiyo's schemes to orchestrate a coup and rule Japan from the shadows will only empower their mysterious rivals, Symbol, and lead to ruin. When Daizaburo openly opposes Kazukiyo and demands the family choose sides, he is stripped of his position as head of the family, with his other sons, Kiyotsugu and Kiyoharu, siding with Kazukiyo to further their own research and business interests. This loss of power marks a turning point for Daizaburo, enabling him to shed his corporate ruthlessness and act more directly as a father.

His primary motivation after this schism is to atone for his past actions and to stop his son's destructive path. He uses his remaining authority to facilitate the escape of Yushiro and the mysterious girl Miharu from the Gowa compound, understanding that they are key to countering Kazukiyo's plans. In these acts, he demonstrates a newfound commitment to protecting his children, supporting Yushiro's quest for truth and his fight against the corrupted ambitions of the family. This paternal concern culminates in the series' final episode, where Daizaburo attempts to save his daughter Misuzu from becoming a sacrifice to Kazukiyo's scheme. In his final act, he is shot and killed by Kazukiyo, dying as he tries to give his daughter a comforting embrace, a stark contrast to his earlier detached demeanor.

Daizaburo's notable abilities lie not in piloting or combat, but in his deep understanding of the dual nature of the Gowa legacy. He possesses a firm grasp of the family's political and corporate power as well as their secret, millennium-old history with the Kai and the Kugai organic weapons. He is a strategist and a man of knowledge, capable of wielding information and influence as his primary weapons. His role in the story is that of the flawed patriarch whose initial cold ambition leads to tragedy, but whose eventual act of defiance and sacrifice redeems him as a father, even as he falls victim to the very monster his family line helped create.
