Description
Emi, whose full name is Emi Natsuno, is one of the two main protagonists. She is a Japanese middle-school student who, along with her friend Yuko, is suddenly and mysteriously transported from her ordinary life to a strange and unfamiliar world. Upon arrival, Emi finds herself in a land where the native inhabitants are no taller than her knees, making her a giant in comparison. These diminutive people, who resemble chubby toddlers or gnome-like creatures, come to believe that Emi and Yuko are the legendary Great Protectors, summoned by their princess to save their village of Bellgazle from a devastating war.
Emi’s personality is initially defined by her reluctance and denial. She and Yuko are two ordinary girls who have no desire to be heroes or to fight in someone else's conflict. Their primary motivation is simply to find a way back home to their normal lives, and they struggle to accept the gravity of the situation they have been thrust into.
