Description
Kinzoku Bat, whose real name is Bad, is the S-Class Rank 15 professional hero affiliated with the Hero Association. He is a young man of seventeen years with a tall, lean build. His most distinctive features are his black hair, styled into a large pompadour, and his dark, intense eyes that reflect his hot-blooded temperament. His appearance is a direct homage to the classic Japanese delinquent stereotype, as he wears a black Japanese school uniform, known as a gakuran, over a red long-sleeved turtleneck sweater, paired with loose-fitting black bontan pants.

True to his appearance, Kinzoku Bat possesses a brash, impulsive, and incredibly confident personality. He is known for his reckless fighting style and a tendency to rush headfirst into battle against any opponent, famously declaring that he does not care whether a threat is classified as Demon or Dragon level. He speaks in a very rough and direct manner and is not easily intimidated, having been willing to challenge the immensely popular and powerful hero Sweet Mask over a mocking comment. Despite his aggressive exterior, Kinzoku Bat has a profound soft spot for his younger sister, Zenko. He dotes on her and treats her with immense care, going so far as to make a promise to never use violence in her presence. This promise is tested when he is attacked by the hero hunter Garou; despite being goaded and struck, Kinzoku Bat refuses to fight back until his sister is safely out of the vicinity, demonstrating that his devotion to his family overrides his own combative nature. He shows a similar affection for his pet cat, Tama.

Kinzoku Bat's primary motivation as a hero is straightforward: to defeat monsters and protect others, though his methods are often crude and direct. He shows little concern for his official hero ranking and has, on occasion, accidentally killed monsters he intended to question simply because his swings were too powerful. His role in the story is that of a powerful frontline combatant. He participates in major conflicts, most notably the battle against the Monster Association, where he single-handedly fights numerous monsters and holds his own against the escalating threat of Garou. His key relationships are with his sister Zenko, who serves as his moral compass, and his fellow S-Class heroes, with whom he has a professional but sometimes tense rapport. He also has a noted connection to the protagonist Saitama, as like Saitama, he is indifferent to his rank and public perception.

In terms of development, Kinzoku Bat undergoes significant changes following the Monster Association arc. He formally resigns from the Hero Association to go undercover within the newly formed Neo Heroes, acting as a bodyguard for Sekingar at the request of Sitch, a high-ranking official from the Hero Association. This move is a strategic infiltration rather than a true defection, highlighting his willingness to take on dangerous, long-term missions that require more than just physical strength.

Kinzoku Bat's abilities are perfectly suited to his personality. He is an immensely powerful physical fighter whose entire combat style revolves around his signature weapon, an unbreakable custom-made metal bat. His true strength lies in a unique ability known as Fighting Spirit. As he takes damage and his anger builds, his power, speed, and durability grow exponentially, allowing him to surpass his normal physical limits. It has been said that when his Fighting Spirit reaches its maximum, his power approaches infinity. This ability allows him to continue fighting even while suffering from massive blood loss and multiple fractured bones. Among his notable techniques are Dragon Thrashing, a barrage of rapid strikes aimed at the same spot, and Savage Tornado, a spinning attack that creates a powerful vortex. He is also surprisingly perceptive in battle, once being the first hero to deduce the weakness of the alien Melzargard. His incredible endurance has been demonstrated in simulations where he could fight the fearsome Carnage Kabuto for three minutes, a far better result than many other S-Class heroes.
