TV-Series
Description
Child Emperor is the hero alias of a character named Isamu, who holds the rank of S-Class, position 5, within the Hero Association and is its youngest member at ten years old. He is a pre-adolescent boy of short stature with light skin, short brown hair often featuring a cowlick, and large amber eyes. His typical attire consists of a light blue collared shirt, dark blue shorts, and orange sneakers, and he is almost never seen without his signature black backpack and a lollipop he frequently snacks on. The double meaning of his hero name in Japanese is a homophone for a term relating to virginity, a fact he later becomes aware of. He maintains his own research laboratory in Y-City.
Child Emperor is defined by a genius-level intellect that far surpasses that of an average adult, which is the primary reason for his high rank among the S-Class heroes. He possesses a highly analytical and strategic mind, allowing him to observe situations, formulate complex plans, and remain calm and collected in battle. Despite his youth, he is often one of the most mature and level-headed S-Class heroes, willing to take criticism and capable of collaborating with others without the egotistical clashes that many of his peers engage in. He also shows a caring side, once prioritizing the creation of an antidote for poisoned heroes over directly defeating a monster and showing concern for the well-being of a fellow hero who had consumed a venomous foe. However, he is not without his flaws. He dislikes being called childish and becomes easily annoyed when he feels he is not taken seriously. Like many top heroes, he can be overconfident and condescending, writing off those he perceives as beneath his level of talent. This was demonstrated when he dismissed Saitama as weak based on a faulty reading from an unfinished invention. He also displays considerable irritability towards other S-Class heroes, particularly Sweet Mask, due to their uncooperative and prideful natures, which he feels makes effective teamwork nearly impossible. He is also overcautious to a fault, letting misplaced distrust influence his strategic decisions during major operations.
His primary motivation for becoming a hero was his admiration for the top-ranked S-Class hero, Blast. In his role within the Hero Association, he serves as one of its primary strategic brains, using his intellect to analyze threats and coordinate actions. During the battle against the Monster Association, he was tasked with rescuing a hostage. His role in this arc is significant, as it forces him into a desperate solo battle against the monster Phoenix Man, pushing him to his limits and showcasing his resourcefulness and determination. This experience, along with the overall chaotic and uncoordinated response of the S-Class heroes to the ultimate threat of the monster Garou, leads to a major shift in his character. He loses faith in the adult heroes and the Hero Association itself, feeling deeply disappointed by their inability to listen, cooperate, and work together effectively. As a result, he decides to quit the Hero Association and joins a new, rival organization called the Neo Heroes. While he joins them partly because they are more open to criticism and suggestions, his true objective is to infiltrate the organization to uncover their schemes and gather information. To appear more mature for his new role, he changes his hero name to "Fudo Emperor" or "Wild Emperor."
Child Emperor has several key relationships that influence him. He was formerly an assistant to Dr. Bofoi, also known as the hero Metal Knight. Their relationship is professional and contrasting; while Child Emperor respects Bofoi's genius, he is often frustrated by the doctor's cold, calculating, and detached methodology. Conversely, Bofoi expects a high level of analytical thinking from Child Emperor. He greatly respects the hero Zombieman for his level-headed attitude and perseverance. During the Monster Association raid, Zombieman's words of gratitude and praise deeply moved Child Emperor, reaffirming his resolve and causing him to look up to the older hero as a role model. He initially idolizes King as the strongest man on Earth but is disappointed when King seems to disregard his strategic plans, which he interprets as being treated like a child. His interactions with Saitama are limited but notable; after Saitama compliments him and effortlessly defeats powerful opponents, Child Emperor grows suspicious of the seemingly low-ranked hero. His relationship with the psychic hero Tatsumaki is strained due to her arrogant and uncooperative nature, which he sees as a major hindrance to teamwork.
Despite being a child, Child Emperor's physical capabilities are far above average. His physical strength has been measured as greater than that of a brown bear and even some elite A-Class heroes. He possesses enhanced speed, reflexes, and durability, allowing him to block attacks from demon-level monsters and survive powerful blows that would kill a normal human. His true power, however, lies in his genius intellect, which he applies to science, invention, and strategy. He is an expert scientist and inventor, capable of creating advanced technology and analyzing and countering poisons in a short amount of time. He is also a highly skilled strategist and tactician who excels at finding enemy weaknesses and preparing contingency plans.
His combat style relies almost entirely on the arsenal of gadgets and weapons he has designed, most of which are stored in his seemingly small black backpack. The backpack contains advanced compression technology and can sprout large spider-like limbs for transportation, flight, and combat. It holds a vast array of tools, including chainsaws, shredders, blowtorches, and boxing gloves. He also commands a variety of independent support robots, such as the dog-like Underdog Man units that can combine into a three-headed form, the octopus-shaped Mini Octotank No. 8 for area denial, and the small Tickle-Tickle Bug used to incapacitate an enemy from the inside. For defense, he utilizes an "Invisible Wall" barrier film and an umbrella that can project a barrier. His ultimate weapon is a giant, humanoid mecha suit named Brave Giant. The suit's parts are stored separately and assemble around him on command, but it has a very short operational time limit of just over two and a half minutes. Brave Giant is equipped with an energy lightsaber, a compass shield, rocket-propelled fists, and powerful electrical attacks, including the devastating Billion Volt Impact. His most powerful technique, the Thousand-Year Emperor Star, uses a combination of the mecha's arms and small robots to unleash a shockwave powerful enough to pierce through the Monster Association's underground base.
