Description
Taeko Harada is a 47-year-old female who operates Yamabiko, her traditional Japanese izakaya tavern. Patrons like Hiroshi Odokawa, Eiji Kakihana, and Ayumu Goriki frequent her establishment, where she exhibits a kind and gentle personality, often serving a maternal role to the regulars. An autograph from comedian Donraku Shoufuutei features prominently in the tavern.
A significant revelation occurs regarding her identity: Taeko Harada is human. The perception of her and others as anthropomorphic animals results from Odokawa's visual agnosia. This psychological condition stems from childhood trauma involving a murder-suicide attempt by his mother, who drove their family car into a body of water. To distance himself from the traumatic event, Odokawa subconsciously reinterpreted humans as animals. Consequently, Taeko's portrayal as a kangaroo was part of this psychological mechanism.
