Description
Dr. Buttocks serves as the secondary antagonist in Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. He is a ghost with a pale blue complexion, recognizable by his pair of red-framed glasses, wild white hair shaped like lightning bolts, and a bionic claw replacing his left arm, a design that stereotypes a traditional mad scientist. As the twin brother of the ghost Butt-ler, Dr. Buttocks is distinguished by his superior intelligence and serves directly under the main villain, Lord Betrayus, as the chief scientist of the Netherworld.
Dr. Buttocks is defined by his immense intellect and his role as the primary inventor for Betrayus's schemes. Most of the plots to defeat Pac-Man and conquer Pac-World originate from one of his creations, making him a significant threat, often considered more dangerous than Betrayus himself due to his cunning and sneaky tactics rather than brute force. His personality is marked by a profound ego and a growing megalomania as the series progresses, which frequently becomes a weakness that leads to his defeat. Despite his brilliance, his plans are almost always foiled, usually resulting in him being eaten by Pac-Man by the end of an episode. He is intensely jealous of Sir Cumference, the genius of Pac-World, and harbors a bitter professional rivalry with him. This hatred is more personal than his general animosity towards the surface world.
Dr. Buttocks has a deeply antagonistic relationship with his twin brother, Butt-ler. He constantly belittles Butt-ler for his limited intelligence and uses him as an unwilling test subject for his dangerous new inventions. Their interactions are childish and petty, full of name-calling and mutual disrespect, which contrasts with his more focused scientific demeanor. While Lord Betrayus values Dr. Buttocks for his intellectual power, the doctor's arrogance sometimes leads him to act independently or even turn against his master when he feels mistreated. One of his most defining rivalries is with the hero, Pac-Man, whom he sees as a primary obstacle, and with the inventor Sir Cumference, whose intellect he both resents and seeks to surpass.
Throughout the series, Dr. Buttocks demonstrates a vast array of notable abilities and inventions. He is a highly skilled inventor capable of creating doomsday devices and complex machinery. His inventions include the Mind Control Microchip, which allows him to control living beings and even machines; he once used an advanced version to take over the rides at a carnival to steal a key. He built the Dragon Furnace, a doomsday device fueled by the forced fire breath of dragons that threatened to destroy Pac-World with a massive heat wave. Another creation was the Grinder-Tron, a giant, indestructible battle mech that required Pac-Man to use a Brain Berry to gain the intelligence to counter it. He also developed the Spooka-Bazooka, an anti-ghost weapon sold to Pac-Worlders that secretly played a lullaby to put everyone to sleep for a ghost invasion. Beyond machinery, Buttocks is skilled in possession, using devices to take control of individuals like President Spheros. Despite the scale and potential of his inventions, they are consistently outmatched by Pac-Man and Sir Cumference, leading to his recurring, comedic defeats.
