Description
Rui Nikaidō, the 18-year-old lead singer of idol group Mystery Kiss, combines exceptional vocal and dance talent with a striking presence. Renowned for her fiery ambition and relentless pursuit of success, she fiercely guards her role as the group’s center. Since debuting in 2019 alongside Shiho Ichimura and Yuki Mitsuya under manager Fuyuki Yamamoto, her competitive drive has shaped her choices.

When Yuki’s rise threatened her position, Rui contemplated drastic measures to secure her status. Before she could act, Sakura Wadagaki executed Yuki’s murder. Rui then allied with Yamamoto to dispose of the body, masking the incident to safeguard both the group’s reputation and her career.

Her animal-like depiction in the series originates from Hiroshi Odokawa’s visual agnosia—a psychological condition rooted in childhood trauma that warps his perception of humans into anthropomorphic forms. The finale reveals her true human identity, unraveling this visual distortion.

The film *Odd Taxi: In the Woods* explores the fallout of Sakura’s crimes and her eventual capture. While Rui’s direct role in new events remains undetailed, her past actions and ties to Yamamoto persistently anchor her within the narrative’s core. Supplementary materials reference her romantic link to Atsuya Baba of comedy duo Homosapiens, though its narrative significance remains unexplored.

Rui’s arc exposes the idol industry’s merciless demands and the ethical sacrifices ambition can demand. Her insecurities and tenacity intertwine, crafting a layered figure enmeshed in the story’s mysteries—a testament to the volatile intersection of vulnerability and resolve in the pursuit of legacy.
