Description
Donatello K. Davis is the American captain of the Bugs #2 mission. He is a man of considerable physical stature, standing 188 centimeters tall and weighing 90 kilograms. At the age of thirty, he holds the rank of captain, a position he earned through his skills and leadership qualities rather than through a traditional career path. His background is marked by a profound personal injustice: Donatello had always aspired to become an astronaut, but this dream was shattered by the actions of his father, M. K. Davis. His father, a U-NASA executive, was branded a traitor for attempting to expose the truth about Mars, an act that resulted in his mysterious death. As a consequence of his father's treasonous acts against U-NASA, Donatello was forbidden from becoming an astronaut. Despite this, his exceptional abilities could not be ignored, and he was recruited to lead the non-professional Bugs #2 mission to Mars.

In terms of personality, Donatello embodies the qualities of a stern and resolute commander. He is described as a man of action rather than words, with a leadership style that is both determined and altruistic. His primary motivation is the protection and well-being of those under his command. He takes his duty as captain seriously, and his sense of responsibility is so profound that he is willing to sacrifice his own life to safeguard his crew. This selfless drive defines his actions throughout the story.

As the leader of Bugs #2, Donatello plays a crucial role in the perilous mission to Mars. His position places him at the forefront of the conflict against the Terraformars, the humanoid cockroach creatures that threaten the crew. His most significant relationships are with his fellow crew members, whom he is sworn to protect. A vital relationship, central to his personal history, is that with his daughter, Michelle K. Davis. Her presence on the mission adds a deeply personal layer to his determination to succeed and survive. The tragedy of his past, specifically the fate of his father, also serves as a shadow that influences his present circumstances and his connection to the U-NASA organization.

Donatello undergoes a drastic and harrowing transformation in his development. During a desperate battle against the Terraformars, after sustaining a critical injury, he takes the extreme measure of injecting himself with the Bullet Ant DNA that powers his abilities. This act triggers a fusion, turning him into a human-insect hybrid to increase his power and protect his comrades. Ultimately, his legacy is grimly reflected by his enemies; a Terraformar that copies his abilities, known as a Paraponera type, appears and uses his own strength against his daughter, highlighting the tragic cycle of the conflict on Mars.

Donatellos notable abilities are derived from the Bug Procedure, which grafted the DNA of the Bullet Ant onto him. This South American ant, scientifically known as Paraponera clavata, is so fearsome that even army ants avoid its path. The ant is famous for its sting, which delivers such intense pain that it is often compared to being shot, earning it the nickname bullet ant. In combat, this modification grants Donatello immense physical strength and durability, making him a terrifyingly effective fighter, capable of standing against the superhuman Terraformars.
