TV-Series
Description
Dagger Morse is the primary antagonist and president of Unicorn Virtual Music, the largest record label in the industry. His ultimate goal is to seize control of Sound World and, by extension, the entire Sound Cosmos. To achieve this, he operates from the shadows, manipulating Dark Monsters to destroy any band not signed to his label while seeking to harness the power of exceptionally talented musicians for his own ends. He is the one who summoned the protagonist, Cyan, to Sound World, intending to exploit her musical abilities.
Dagger Morse's personality is defined by his love of money and power, and a corresponding disdain for those he perceives as talentless dreamers who talk without taking action. As a being composed of pure, evil energy, his perspective on music is utilitarian, viewing it not as an art form to be appreciated but as a tool for gaining wealth and control, a philosophy that puts him in direct opposition to the series' heroes who play for the love of music itself. He speaks in an arrogant and commanding manner, fitting for a corporate executive and master villain.
In the first season, Dagger Morse is the main hidden threat, commanding monsters from his office. After his initial plans are thwarted by the band Plasmagica, he directly intervenes, transforming the defeated band Criticrista into Dark Monsters and later assuming a gigantic, monstrous form himself. He nearly succeeds in corrupting Cyan but is ultimately defeated by her purified power, reverting to a small, powerless, tadpole-like creature and fleeing. In the second season, he returns, having regained some of his strength and recruited a new band, Bud Virgin Logic, to further his schemes. However, his villainous momentum is undercut when a more powerful entity, the Queen of Darkness Victoriaus, drains his power, forcing him into an uneasy, and often comedic, temporary alliance with his former enemies, including Maple Arisugawa. By the season's end, he is restored to his original form.
By the events of Show By Rock!! Stars!!, Dagger Morse has surprisingly retired from world domination to become the owner of a host club. He appears in court as a plaintiff, seeking damages from the band Mashumairesh!! after they inadvertently caused his establishment to collapse. His lawsuit fails, leaving him to bear the financial loss himself, a fittingly anticlimactic end for a once-fearsome villain.
While his true species is unknown, his typical form is a tall, suited figure with a strange, black, jellyfish-like head, featuring two red eyes and a third green eye on his forehead that glows when he uses dark powers. His true, weakened form is a small, tailed tadpole that is largely helpless. His key relationships are antagonistic, primarily against the band Plasmagica and their allies, though he maintains a dynamic with his long-suffering underling, Ogasawara, who often bears the brunt of his anger when plans fail. He possesses the ability to forcibly corrupt a Muumon's Melodian Stone, turning them into a Dark Monster, and can transform his own body into a giant, powerful creature.
