TV-Series
Description
Kyōma Kuzuryu is a third-year student at Mikagura Academy and the representative of the Art Club. He stands 177 centimeters tall and has a birthday of August 11. His blood type is O. He is known for his aloof and unapproachable demeanor, often giving others a scary glare and speaking in a harsh tone, which makes many students fear him. Despite this intimidating exterior, he has a good-natured side and is described as a tsundere. He has a notable fondness for milk, which he takes very seriously.
Kyōma was not originally a student at Mikagura Academy. He transferred from a sister school after being betrayed by people he had trusted and considered friends. Prior to that betrayal, he was affable, cherished his friends, and was kind to everyone, always putting his best effort into everything with a smile. The experience of being backstabbed caused him to become withdrawn and to cultivate his current unapproachable aura.
His special ability is called Palette Barette, which manifests as a palette that serves as a shield and floating paints that act as his main weapons. Each color of paint has a different effect: red paint explodes, yellow paint fires light bullets, and black paint both explodes and reverberates loud sounds. The paints can be combined to produce multiplied effects, making the ability versatile and powerful, though its accuracy and power depend on his distance from the opponent. When Kyōma is in a sour mood, the paints will move violently and splatter onto any nearby surface.
In the story, Kyōma acts as a supporting figure, offering guidance to the protagonist Eruna Ichinomiya. He provides advice on how to better utilize her own abilities and encourages her to gain more experience. His role is that of a misunderstood upperclassman who, despite his harsh words, genuinely wants to help others. Over the course of the series, his past is gradually revealed, allowing a deeper understanding of his guarded personality and the pain that shaped him. His development involves slowly opening up to others and allowing his more vulnerable, sincere side to show.
Key relationships include his connection to Eruna, whom he helps without expecting anything in return, and his fellow club representatives within the school's battle system. His interactions often highlight the contrast between his rough exterior and his underlying kindness.
