Description
Centorea Shianus, often called Cerea by those closest to her, is a centaur and the third non-human resident to join the household of Kimihito Kurusu. She hails from a proud family of knights and was raised with a strict warrior's education, which instilled in her a deep-seated sense of honor, duty, and discipline. Despite her upbringing, she is actually a half-blood; her mother is a centaur and her father was a human, a fact she only learned from her mother after arriving in Japan. Her original goal in coming to the country was to find a suitable male to fulfill her family's expectations, but her purpose shifted dramatically after a fateful encounter.

Personality-wise, Centorea is defined by her earnest, chivalrous, and incredibly honorable nature. She carries herself with the demeanor of a medieval knight, speaking in an archaic and formal manner, and strives to be the voice of reason among the other monster girls. She often tries to take on a leadership role, keeping her housemates in line, though her strict and serious tone can sometimes make it difficult for others to follow her directions. Underneath this stoic and responsible exterior, however, she harbors a girlish and romantic side. Having been raised in a rigorous environment, she is awkward and inexperienced with expressing her own emotions, leading her to become easily flustered, embarrassed, or clumsy in situations involving love, intimacy, or when being teased.

Her primary motivation and the central axis of her role in the story is her unwavering loyalty to Kimihito Kurusu, whom she affectionately refers to as Master. This loyalty was sealed after he shielded her from a purse-snatcher's attack, an act of bravery that moved her deeply and led her to swear a lifelong oath to protect him. Consequently, she sees her role as his personal knight and guardian, constantly vigilant and ready to defend him from any perceived threat. While her duty as his servant is paramount, she is also in love with him, leading to internal conflict between her professional devotion and her personal desires. She dreams of a deeper relationship, sometimes fantasizing about bearing his child, but she often reprimands herself for such thoughts, believing they might be improper.

In her relationships with the other residents of the household, Centorea often acts as a mediator and the straight man. She maintains a friendly but heated rivalry with Miia, the lamia, as they compete for Kimihito's attention. Despite their clashes, Miia genuinely respects Centorea for her integrity and fortitude, often seeking her advice. She develops a more complex, love-hate relationship with the arachne Rachnera, initially distrusting her as a threat to Kimihito's safety, though this eventually evolves into a grudging mutual understanding. She permits only those she deeply trusts, such as Kimihito, to use her nickname, Cerea.

As a centaur, Centorea possesses abilities far beyond those of a normal human. She is an exceptionally skilled swordswoman, capable of making precise and rapid slashes, and is also proficient with a bow and arrow and jousting. Her physical strength is immense, allowing her to lift other large monster girls with ease, and she can run at speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour. Due to her equine physiology, she is a strict herbivore; her palate is sensitive and she can only eat vegetables, with carrots being a particular favorite that she is somewhat embarrassed about. Her large body also makes her the heaviest resident in the home, a fact she finds dismaying. She also seems to have a unique susceptibility to hypnosis, contrasting with her otherwise strong willpower.

Throughout the narrative, Centorea's development involves navigating the gap between her idealized, chivalrous worldview and the humorous, mundane realities of daily life. Her rigid adherence to a knight's code often leads to comical misunderstandings, especially regarding modern Japanese culture, which she mistakes for the literal truth of the anime and manga she has consumed. Her journey is one of learning humility, loosening her strict self-expectations, and balancing her role as a proud warrior with her personal feelings and the chaotic, affectionate life she shares with Kimihito and the other monster girls.
