Description
Masanori Fukushima is a character from the Samurai Warriors series, depicted as a powerful and emotional general of the Sengoku period who served under Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Having been raised under Hideyoshi's patronage since childhood, Masanori is deeply indebted to him and carries a strong desire to repay that kindness, which motivates his actions on the battlefield. He is known for his hot-tempered and unrestrained nature, easily moved by his emotions and prone to crying or throwing tantrums at the slightest provocation. Among his peers, Masanori is the loudest and most immature, acting as the comic relief of the trio he forms with Katō Kiyomasa and Ishida Mitsunari. He is immensely proud of his physical strength, which he considers his greatest asset, and prefers to settle all disagreements through brute force rather than overthinking complicated matters, believing that whoever wins a fight has the right to get their way. Despite his oafish demeanor, Masanori is deeply loyal to Hideyoshi, whom he affectionately calls "Old Man," and he extends similar respect to Hideyoshi's wife, Nene, though he becomes timid and cautious around her for fear of incurring one of her lectures. Both Hideyoshi and Nene see his light-hearted nature as a calming influence that can prevent Mitsunari and Kiyomasa from constantly fighting. Masanori treats Kiyomasa with fraternal respect, but he regularly clashes with Mitsunari, openly berating him for his arrogance and referring to him as "big-headed" due to his helmet and his attitude. However, he does not hold lasting grudges, and his reactions to their bickering are often the only thing his two companions can agree upon. He seems stuck in the happier times of their childhood, frequently mocking his friends for embarrassing moments from their youth and sometimes calling Mitsunari by his childhood name in moments of excitement. Masanori was one of the Seven Spears of Shizugatake, a title earned for his conspicuous valor in battle, and he is described as being "stupidly strong." After Hideyoshi's death, Masanori chooses to follow Kiyomasa's decisions and joins the Tokugawa family, though his fate varies depending on the story path, living in some endings and dying in others. The character Sakon Shima fondly refers to Masanori, Kiyomasa, and Mitsunari as the "three idiots," jokingly naming Masanori the dumbest of the group.
