Description
Aishuwaria Fein, often called Ai by her comrades, is a supporting character introduced in the second series of the Fafner franchise. She serves as a Fafner pilot belonging to the Perseus Company of the Neo United Nations Human Army. Born on July 21st, her primary mobile weapon is the Dominions model Gabriel, an aerial combat configuration of the Fafner.

Aishuwaria is a young woman who demonstrates high aptitude for piloting a Fafner, possessing strong resistance to the dangerous phenomenon of assimilation by the alien Festum. She also shows signs of Esperanto ability, a rare psychic talent in the series' universe. Her cheerful and approachable demeanor allows her to build good relationships with her fellow dispatched pilots and the inhabitants of Tatsumiyajima.

Personality-wise, Aishuwaria has a deep respect for accomplished individuals. She is profoundly grateful to Kazuki Makabe, as he is the donor of the Makabe Factor, a genetic trait that enables her to pilot a Fafner. Her admiration for Kazuki is so strong that upon meeting him for the first time, she immediately asks him to call her by her nickname "Ai," much to his surprise. She initially views her comrade Jonathan Mitsuhiro Bartland through the lens of his father's reputation as a great researcher, but as she comes to know the man himself, she develops genuine personal affection and romantic feelings for him.

Aishuwaria’s role in the story begins when her unit joins the fight against the Festum at the Human Army's base in Hawaii. She experiences the trauma of being forced to shoot an allied Fafner whose pilot was being assimilated, an event that leaves her crying in her cockpit. After this battle, she and her surviving squadmates are brought to the island of Tatsumiyajima, where she continues to fight alongside its native pilots. Her key relationships are central to her character arc. She forms a close bond with pilot Maya Toomi, whose precision and skill under pressure she greatly admires. She also becomes particularly close to pilot Maya Tomi, spending a great deal of time with her on reconnaissance missions. Having experienced the pain of shooting an ally herself, Aishuwaria shows deep concern for Maya when she struggles with the same trauma, once offering to take on that burden herself in the future.

Throughout the series, Aishuwaria's development is marked by increasing psychological strain. As the situation grows more desperate under the Code of Engagement Alpha, where the Human Army and the Festum both hunt her forces, her mental and physical exhaustion becomes evident. Her feelings for Mitsuhiro also make her vulnerable, and she is shown clinging to him in tears as she becomes emotionally unstable. This instability culminates in her tragic death. In a later battle, Mitsuhiro is nearly controlled by a Festum and begs her to shoot him. Unable to pull the trigger, she is instead shot by the fully controlled Mitsuhiro and dies in combat.

Aishuwaria's notable abilities include her exceptional piloting skills, particularly in aerial combat, where she is known to be proficient. She is also noted for her strong will and resistance to assimilation, a critical trait for any Fafner pilot. Her story, however, does not end with her death. Later, a doppelgänger is created by the Festum known as Prometheus, fashioned in her image and imbued with a soul to serve as a tool to motivate Mitsuhiro. This clone is ultimately destroyed during the invasion of the Festum's island, sacrificing herself to protect Mitsuhiro by initiating a self-destruct sequence.
