Description
Koyomi Yamanaka is a 33-year-old NEET living a withdrawn, sedentary life before encountering Dynazenon. He stands 178 cm tall, weighs 69 kg, and has brown hair with bangs usually covering his light blue eyes. His typical outfit includes a light green jacket with black and yellow stripes on the sleeves, black sweatpants with yellow stripes, and orange sandals.

A significant event shaped his youth: during middle school, he and Inamoto discovered money in an abandoned building. When she proposed using it to run away together, Koyomi refused, fled, and promised to keep her past misbehavior secret—a decision he deeply regretted, fueling his later isolation. His name is thought to originate from the classical Chinese poem "山中無曆日 寒盡不知年," meaning "a hermit living in the mountains has no idea how many years have passed," mirroring his existence.

His cousin, Chise Asukagawa, forcibly brings him to witness floating buildings, leading to a kaiju attack by Shalbandes. During this chaos, Dynazenon absorbs Koyomi, making him one of its four pilots alongside Gauma, Yomogi Asanaka, and Yume Minami. He initially participates under the guise of seeking employment and money. Piloting the Dynastriker race car component, Koyomi displays unexpected tactical skill and perceptiveness, with Gauma acknowledging his cleverness in analyzing enemies.

Koyomi unexpectedly reunites with Inamoto as an adult. They exchange contacts, and she invites him for a meal where they become intoxicated. When her husband, Arata, arrives, Koyomi's regret over his past inaction intensifies. He drunkenly leaves his umbrella behind; the Kaiju Eugenicist Mujina takes it, giving him hers and stealing Dynastriker. Gauma later retrieves the stolen component.

During a battle with the kaiju Garnix, Koyomi is sent back to relive the moment Inamoto found the money. This time, he accepts her offer, becoming psychologically trapped in this altered past. Yomogi forcibly enters Koyomi's psychological torment, helping him regain awareness of the present. This ordeal leaves Koyomi with a permanent S-shaped scar on his ankle, matching scars acquired by the other pilots.

After the defeat of the final kaiju Gagula and Gauma's apparent death, Koyomi attempts societal reintegration. Three months later, sporting a haircut and wearing a suit, he actively job hunts. Despite multiple failed interviews, he secures employment with help from Inamoto's husband, Arata. His resume lists his experience piloting Dynastriker and includes inconsistent birth dates (March 10th on the resume versus March 12th in official records, which he shares with Mujina).

In the film *Gridman Universe*, Koyomi reappears with the Dynazenon crew after universe-overlapping phenomena transport them to the Gridman Alliance's world. He participates in defeating the entity Mad Origin, contributing to Dynazenon's combination into Kaiser Gridknight during the final battle. After the conflict resolves, he returns home with the team.

He attended Sakuragaoka University and worked briefly for four months at "Natural Yeast Bread House," a location known for its "Special Dog" featured in prior series.
