Konomi Yurikawa is a student at Arashigaoka Academy and a classmate of the protagonist Kureha Tsubaki. She is secretly a bear, or Yurikuma, and serves as the first-seen leader of the Invisible Storm, an organization that opposes the human world and seeks to eliminate targets like Kureha. Her physical appearance is notable for the absence of visible sclera in her eyes, and in her bear form she is known for her aggressive catchphrase, "Nasty!" Her personality is defined by her fierce loyalty to the Invisible Storm and her deep romantic bond with fellow bear Mitsuko Yurizono. This relationship serves as a primary motivation for her actions throughout the series. As an antagonist, she actively participates in the conflict against the human protagonist. Konomi's role in the narrative is marked by a significant arc of destruction and rebirth: she is killed by Kureha after attempting to maul her, but is later revived by the scientist Ai Uchiko, who reconstructs her with mechanical bear parts. She is programmed to serve as a power source for a deadly beam weapon. After this function is completed and following the disappearance of Ginko and Kureha, she is discarded by the Invisible Storm, labelled as deformed or defective. Found sleeping in a box, she is ultimately taken in by Ai Uchiko, with whom she forms a new, positive bond of friendship, providing a rare note of peaceful closure. Her notable abilities include the capacity to transform into a powerful bear, and later, the cybernetic enhancements that allow her to accumulate and discharge immense energy. The duality of her nature as both a fierce attacker and a discarded tool highlights themes of love, rejection, and redemption.
