Description
Chaika Trabant is a young wizard recognizable by her long silver hair, purple eyes, and notably thick black eyebrows. She carries an oversized black coffin on her back, which houses her dismantled gundo, a magical sniper rifle she uses to cast spells. A distinct red scar encircles her neck, a mark of her manufactured origins.

Chaika presents a personality marked by a blend of wide-eyed innocence, deep compassion, and surprising stubbornness. She is generally kind-hearted and dislikes violence, often seeking peaceful resolutions. Despite her earnest nature, she can be naive, clumsy, and has a famously poor sense of direction. She speaks the common language in broken, disjointed sentences, commonly using phrases like "Shocking truth!" and "Grateful!" as well as a verbal tic of saying "mwee". However, she is completely fluent in Laake, the native tongue of the fallen Gaz Empire. A lesser-known trait is her sensitivity about her flat chest, to the point of secretly sewing pads into her clothing.

Her central motivation is to gather the scattered remains of her father, the late Emperor Arthur Gaz, in order to give him a proper burial. Initially believing herself to be the emperor's true daughter and sole heir, she is driven by a filial sense of duty to honor him, a goal that puts her at odds with the political powers that defeated the Gaz Empire. However, it is later revealed that she is not a genuine daughter but one of many Chaikas—multiple orphaned girls created or brainwashed and implanted with false memories for the singular purpose of collecting the emperor's remains to facilitate his resurrection. Despite learning that her identity and mission may be artificial constructs, Chaika persists, ultimately affirming that her feelings for her companions are real and that her mission still holds personal meaning.

In the story, Chaika is the catalyst for the plot, hiring the saboteur siblings Toru and Akari Acura as her bodyguards and companions after they save her from a monster. Her quest to retrieve the body parts of the Demon King from the legendary Eight Heroes drives the narrative forward. Her key relationships are central to her development. Her bond with Toru Acura deepens significantly throughout their journey, evolving from an employer-employee relationship to a strong mutual affection, though Toru is initially reluctant to acknowledge it as romantic. She also encounters other versions of herself, particularly the aggressive Red Chaika (Bohdan) and the disillusioned Blue Chaika (Layla), whose antagonistic roles force her to confront the truth of her own existence and ultimately solidify her own separate identity and resolve.

Chaika undergoes significant development, transforming from a relatively helpless girl into a determined and emotionally resilient individual. The revelation that she is an artificial being with only one year of implanted memory is a traumatic shock that initially causes her to falter. Nevertheless, she chooses to continue her mission on her own terms, rejecting the notion that she is merely a tool. Her growth is also reflected in her speech, which gradually becomes less broken and more fluent as she gains confidence and reclaims her agency. In the final confrontation with the resurrected Emperor Gaz, she sacrifices her implanted memories to power the ancient weapon Niva Lada, destroying him and severing the false identity that was forced upon her.

As a wizard, Chaika possesses notable magical abilities, which she channels exclusively through her gundo sniper rifle. This makes her a classic glass cannon; she is capable of dealing immense destructive force but is vulnerable while casting, requiring time for incantations and allies like Toru to draw enemy fire. Her known spells include The Ripper, which creates magical slashes to cut targets; The Burner, which generates an explosive fireball; The Locator, which functions as a magical sonar to detect objects; The Commander, a potent spell that nullifies magic applied to a target; and The Intruder, which can poison the air. Beyond combat, she is also a skilled magical engineer, capable of repairing and maintaining equipment like her gundo and a rundown vehicle she and her party use for travel.
