Description
Cerberus is a demon who serves as a supporting character in Rage of Bahamut: Genesis. She is known as the Guard Dog of Hell, a title that reflects her role as a tracker and servant to higher-ranking demons. Her appearance is distinctive, featuring long red hair tied in pigtails, red eyes, and a pair of dog ears atop her head. She typically wears skimpy clothing in shades of red and brown and is almost always seen reclining on a floating chaise lounge, often accompanied by two small, sentient puppet dogs that she controls with her hands.
Personality-wise, Cerberus is a complex figure with a blend of childishness and cruelty. She often behaves in a cheerful, impatient, and languid manner, preferring to laze about on her lounge rather than exert unnecessary effort. However, beneath this relaxed exterior lies a pronounced sadistic streak; she displays a keen interest in torture and inflicting pain on others. Despite her lack of genuine camaraderie with her fellow demons, whom she frequently argues with and is quick to abandon in order to save herself, she also possesses a surprising degree of courage. When the dragon Bahamut is revived, she becomes terrified for her own life but nevertheless assists in the battle against the creature on two separate occasions.
Cerberus’s primary motivation in Genesis is self-preservation and service to her superiors. She initially accompanies the demon Azazel on his quest to find the thief of the God Key, primarily to track the target Amira whenever she transforms into her demonic form. Her loyalty, however, proves to be conditional. When Azazel’s plans fail, she does not hesitate to flee and threatens to report his failures to their master, Lucifer. Her role in the story is largely functional, acting as a tracker for the demon forces and later as a reluctant participant in the final effort to contain Bahamut, acting only because Lucifer ordered her to save Azazel.
In the sequel series, Virgin Soul, Cerberus’s situation evolves significantly, demonstrating her development and adaptability. To survive and make a living in the capital of Anatae, she works at a brothel alongside other attractive demons. Here, she interacts with figures such as the knight Alessand Visponti, attempting to comfort him when he is drunk and despondent about the state of the Orleans Knights. She later joins the demon forces in cheering the arrival of Lucifer and assists in holding a defensive shield against Bahamut, though she finds the task difficult.
Cerberus possesses several notable abilities tied to her nature as a guardian hound. Her primary skill is tracking; she can send her two hand-puppet dogs, named Coco and Mimi, to search for people or scout areas. This ability proves crucial in locating Amira whenever her demonic energy flares. She is also capable of joining with other demons and angels to create a powerful magical shield, as demonstrated during the confrontations with Bahamut.
