Description
Ellen is a minor character who appears early in the anime and manga series The Seven Deadly Sins. She is introduced during the Capital of the Dead arc and is a young girl with a mysterious and quiet demeanor. Ellen has shoulder-length blonde hair, thin eyebrows, and typically wears a black shirt with overalls. She lives in the village closest to the Capital of the Dead after the Holy Knights took the rest of the villagers away, leaving her and her brother as the only remaining inhabitants.
Ellen is characterized by her deep love and care for her brother, to whom she is very close. She is a helpful child who shows gratitude, as seen when she and her brother thank the Seven Deadly Sins for providing them with food. Her role in the story occurs when she collapses from exhaustion near the village, drawing the attention of Ban, a member of the Seven Deadly Sins. When her brother arrives and threatens Ban, mistakenly believing he harmed Ellen, she intervenes and defends Ban.
Ellen and her brother later provide Ban and King with crucial information about how to enter the Capital of the Dead. They explain that a person must share something special with the dead to gain entry. They also guide the way to the Capital. In a notable twist, after the Sins return from their mission, Ellen and her brother thank them for the food and leave, at which point it is revealed that the two children are actually ghosts. Ellen has no notable abilities or equipment of her own.
Another depiction of Ellen exists in a different episode of the anime adaptation. In this version, the Seven Deadly Sins travel to a village called Bernia, where Ellen is a young girl who has been having vivid dreams about a monster terrorizing the village. She becomes desperate to help the Sins and protect her village, even setting out to face the creature alone before realizing she needs the group's help. The creature is ultimately revealed to be a giant insect known as a Troll. This version of Ellen shares the same name and general role as a village girl in need of assistance but appears in a distinct storyline from the ghost character encountered near the Capital of the Dead.
