Description
Ranbanein is a Neighbor from the nation of Aftokrator in World Trigger. He is tall and heavily built, with long, messy red-brown hair and light green eyes. Like most Aftokrator Neighbors, he has two horns on his head; his are goat-like in shape, and he also has a broad nose. His design was created with the image of a red demon in mind, and his personal tastes include battling strong opponents, meat and alcohol, and flying.

Ranbanein serves as a combatant in Aftokrator's military and takes part in the large-scale invasion of Earth carried out by that country. He operates as part of the group led by Hyrein, whom he addresses as captain and also refers to as his older brother, and he holds Hyrein in deep respect. His name is derived from a Greek word meaning "to take" or "to receive," and his personal trigger is called Chelidon, a name connected to the Greek word for swallow.

In personality, Ranbanein is carefree, fun-loving, and genuinely enjoys fighting. He comes across as arrogant during battle, but he is also able to accept defeat and offer sincere praise to opponents who prove stronger than him. Despite his brutish appearance and rough manner of speaking, he is a thoughtful and analytical fighter. He understands his own strengths and weaknesses, fights rationally, plans his attacks carefully, and takes steps to cover his blind spots. One of his notable tactics is making himself appear defenseless so that enemies reveal their positions when they move to attack, at which point he is actually protected and ready to counter. During the invasion, he also demonstrates sharp tactical awareness by recognizing that attacks from Midorikawa and Yosuke were only diversions meant to set up the real attack from Izumi.

His primary motivation is the love of combat. He expresses eagerness to take part in the fighting and to move his body during the invasion, though he remains disciplined enough to follow the larger plan of his commanding officer. In battle, he engages several Border agents, including Kuruma, Yoneya, Midorikawa, Yosuke, and Izumi. He makes use of his ability to fly, and he uses the surrounding terrain, such as buildings, to break enemy lines of fire, although he notes that he cannot aim properly while in the air.

The most important relationship in his life is with Hyrein, his older brother and captain. Hyrein values Ranbanein's opinion, asking for his thoughts on the invasion, and the two appear to share a good relationship built on mutual trust. There is also an arrangement within Aftokrator that either Ranbanein or Hyrein is intended to marry Mira, which reflects the political and social duties attached to their positions. Toward his enemies, Ranbanein is confident and combative but retains a sportsmanlike attitude, acknowledging the skill of those who defeat him.

As the large-scale invasion storyline progresses, Ranbanein proves that his playful, battle-loving exterior masks genuine competence. He keeps a clear head amid chaotic engagements, adapts to his opponents' tactics, and reacts reasonably when a fight does not go his way. His arc illustrates a soldier who is loyal to his commander, honest about his own limits, and capable of turning apparent weakness into a tactical advantage.

His notable abilities center on aerial combat and deception. The Chelidon trigger allows him to fly, giving him mobility and the ability to attack from unexpected angles, though his aim is less reliable while in motion. On the ground, his combat style relies on careful positioning, baiting, and counterattacks. Overall, Ranbanein combines a rough, cheerful demeanor with a calculating mind, making him a formidable and memorable opponent during the invasion.
