TV-Series
Description
Kyousuke Karasuma is an A-rank Border agent assigned to the Tamakoma Branch and a member of Tamakoma First. He serves as a mentor to Osamu Mikumo and Ai Kitora. Physically, he has shaggy black hair and golden eyes, and he is often seen wearing a white v-neck shirt under a turquoise jacket that was a hand-me-down from Yuichi Jin, paired with jeans. He joined Border approximately three years before the main events of the story and was originally part of the Tachikawa Squad before transferring to the Tamakoma Branch about a year later, for reasons that remain undisclosed.

Karasuma possesses a laid-back and friendly demeanor, though his sense of humor tends to be dry. He frequently teases Konami Kirie, often delivering obvious lies with a deadpan expression that confuses her. Despite his easygoing nature, he is highly responsible and, as noted by Jin, is regarded as a good teacher who takes his mentoring duties seriously.

His motivations center on his commitment to his role as an instructor and his duty as an A-rank agent to protect others from Neighbor threats. In battle, Karasuma functions as a middle-range All-Rounder, balancing offense and defense. As a gunner, he often takes cover behind a Defense Trigger while firing. His signature equipment is a prototype Optional Trigger called Geist, which temporarily grants him power comparable to that of a Black Trigger, causing his Trion Body to flicker when activated. He also wields the Attacker Trigger Kogetsu.

In terms of relationships, Karasuma maintains a respectful connection with his former Tachikawa Squad leader and still exchanges banter with old squadmates during joint operations. He is on amicable terms with members of the Suzunari Branch and has earned a notable following within Border: a group of fans informally known as the Karasuma Faction. This group includes agents such as Ai Kitora, who becomes flustered in his presence, Yoko Katori, who is motivated by the prospect of a date with him, and Aki Hiyami, who overcomes her shyness around him. Despite this attention, Karasuma does not appear to actively seek or acknowledge the faction.

Throughout the series, Karasuma plays a supporting yet pivotal role, particularly during the Large-Scale Invasion arc, where he engages in combat with the invader Hyrein and coordinates with his allies to protect the C-rank trainees. His development largely involves his growth as a mentor and his reliance on his teammates, as seen in his cooperation with Yosuke Yoneya and his strategic use of Geist to counter powerful opponents. While not a main protagonist, his calm judgment, combat versatility, and dedication to his students make him a steady and respected presence within the Border organization.
