Description
Yui Nagomi, a vibrant second-year at Shinsen Middle School in Oishiina Town, lives above her family's Nagomi Diner. She embodies her late grandmother Yone's belief that "food is smiles," seeing meals as vital connections. Possessing remarkable energy and physical strength, Yui enthusiastically joins sports like soccer, often motivated by post-practice rice ball snacks. Frequent hunger drives her, using eating to soothe worries, and she habitually misquotes common phrases unless they involve food. Academically average, she compensates with sharp observation skills, pinpointing food origins from visual details.
Using the Heart Cure Watch with her fairy partner Kome-Kome, she transforms into Cure Precious. This grants enhanced physical prowess, signaled by the phrase "Precure Delicious Standby! Party Go!" Her transformation turns brown hair bright pink, styled in twin ponytails capped by conical buns resembling rice balls. Her costume blends light pink and white layers, featuring a flower-shaped apron, gold spoon and fork earrings, and boots with tabi-like toes, incorporating triangle motifs symbolizing rice balls. Her attacks escalate with calorie-themed punches ("500/1000/2000 Kilocaloric Punch") and energy techniques like "Precious Triangle" or "Cupcake Triangle."
Yui's journey starts rescuing a runaway pram and offering a rice ball to Kome-Kome. This leads her to Rosemary, a CooKingdom resident seeking the stolen Recipe-Bon. Witnessing the villain Gentlu steal an Omurice Recipepe, Yui intervenes in the Delicious Field dimension. Her fierce determination activates the Heart Cure Watch, enabling her first transformation and victory. She later recruits classmates Kokone Fuwa (Cure Spicy) and Ran Hanamichi (Cure Yum-Yum), forming the core Pretty Cure team.
Key relationships define her path: open communication with her mother Akiho; overlooking the romantic feelings of childhood friend Shinada Takumi; and nurturing her fairy partner Kome-Kome. She befriends Rosemary ("Mari-chan"), supporting him despite initial friction. Initially suspecting classmate Ran Hanamichi due to Recipepe theft patterns, she bonds with her over food. Her persistence helps reform Amane Kasai from her brainwashed state as Gentlu, welcoming her as Cure Finale. Yui maintains faith in redeeming the primary antagonist Godatz (formerly Fennel), though this trust leads to setbacks when he exploits it, injuring Takumi and draining Kome-Kome's energy.
A significant childhood encounter involved sharing lunch with Cait Sith and promising to make another. This resurfaces when Cait Sith, as Dreamia's founder, tries to eliminate adults. Yui helps him confront his trauma, leading to his redemption, explored further in the film "Dreaming♡Children's Lunch!" where her prepared meal reignites his hope.
Yui evolves from enthusiastic but impulsive heroism to measured leadership. Early recklessness in confronting threats gives way after her insistence on Godatz's redemption results in Takumi's injury, Kome-Kome's near-fatal energy depletion, retreat, and global famine. This failure instills deeper responsibility, driving her to unite allies for the final confrontation. She ultimately fulfills her grandmother's wish, using food to reconcile adversaries including Godatz and Cait Sith.
