Ludmila Lourie is the Vanadis of Olmutz and one of the seven war maidens who wield legendary dragon-shaped weapons. She comes from the noble House of Lourie, a prestigious bloodline of Vanadis, and was chosen as the next Vanadis after her mother passed away. Under the weight of her family's legacy, she received an excellent education in regal manners and etiquette, and began training with a spear at the age of fourteen. Her family had maintained an eighty-year regal partnership with the House of Thenardier, and due to this longstanding alliance, Ludmila was originally an ally of Duke Felix Aaron Thenardier. Despite the mutual respect between the families, she personally disliked Thenardier. She is often called Mila and is known as the Frost Mind Vanadis.

In terms of personality, Ludmila is serious, disciplined, and deeply conscious of her duty and family prestige. She values proper conduct and finds fault with the carefree and easygoing nature of her fellow Vanadis, Eleonora Viltaria. This difference in temperament fuels a long-standing rivalry between them, rooted in a generational feud between their respective territories. Their arguments are frequent and heated, and only her fellow Vanadis, Alexandra Alshavin, could initially mediate them. After Alexandra fell ill, Sofya Obertas took over the role of mediator and was able to temporarily settle their disputes, though the rivalry remained unchanged.

Her motivations are primarily driven by the need to uphold her family's honor and fulfill the responsibilities of a Vanadis. She is a warlord who faces constant pressure to maintain her family's prestige. Her allegiance to Thenardier stems from duty rather than personal affinity, and she initially views Tigrevurmud Vorn with antagonism because of his association with Eleonora. However, a turning point occurs when Tigre rescues her from an unexpected assassin. His sincerity and valor change her heart, leading her to become an ally to both Tigre and Eleonora. From that point forward, she supports them through various campaigns.

Her role in the story evolves from an antagonistic rival to a key ally. She provides her military strength and strategic mind to Tigre and Eleonora, most notably during the campaign against the Muozinel army. In battle, she is a field tactician who favors defensive strategies, using careful planning to outwit her enemies and boost her army's morale.

Her key relationships include her tense dynamic with Eleonora Viltaria, which is marked by both rivalry and eventual cooperation. She also develops a significant bond with Tigrevurmud Vorn, whose actions inspire her to change her allegiances. Additionally, she maintains relationships with other Vanadis such as Sofya Obertas, who mediates her conflicts with Eleonora, and Alexandra Alshavin, who was the original mediator.

Throughout the series, Ludmila undergoes clear development. She begins as a proud and rigid figure bound by tradition and duty, but through her interactions with Tigre, she learns to trust others outside her family's circle and becomes more open to alliance and friendship. This transformation allows her to move from being a reluctant pawn of Thenardier to a valued and loyal member of Tigre's coalition.

Ludmila's primary weapon is her Dragonic Weaponry, the ice spear known as Lavias. This spear allows her to summon and manipulate ice at temperatures below freezing that not even summer heat can melt. She can generate shields of ice to protect herself and allies, as well as create ice spikes for attack. She also has the ability to manipulate weather, particularly by summoning severe winter conditions such as snow and ice. This power can reduce enemy accuracy, lower morale, and provide camouflage for her forces. Her ice manipulation allows her to transform the battlefield to her army's advantage. In addition to her spear and ice powers, she is proficient in all forms of weaponry and is an expert archer, with skills comparable to other elite archers in Zhcted.
