TV-Series
Description
Jered Gan is an elderly Elf and a member of the Landers, the native inhabitants of the world of Theldesia. He holds the eighth seat on the Ten-Seat Council, the governing body of the powerful guild Plant Hwyaden based in the southern city of Minami. Prior to his current position, Jered Gan was known as the Sage of Mirror Lake, a title he held before his former apprentice, Li Gan, succeeded him. Officially, he was believed to have died several years before the events of the story, making his later appearance a surprise. His departure from his role as sage was accompanied by the theft of documents from the Sage's library and the deletion of certain knowledge from the Book of Rings, a chronicle kept by successive sages.

In terms of personality, Jered Gan is best described as a scholar driven by an insatiable and amoral obsession with knowledge and experimentation. He is not restrained by conventional ethics or the well-being of others, viewing them merely as resources or potential obstacles in his quest for results. This manifests in a behavior that is often rude, crude, and abusive towards those around him, particularly if they interrupt his work or fail to meet his standards. He has been shown striking a younger council member, Quon, on the head with his cane when annoyed, underscoring his callous and irritable disposition. His manic dedication to research often leads him to display a gleefully mad demeanor, especially when observing chaotic or dangerous situations that interest him.

Jered Gan's primary motivation is the advancement of magical and technological frontiers. After joining Plant Hwyaden, he found a kindred spirit in Zeldys, another brilliant and unorthodox researcher on the council. Together, they became the driving force behind Minami's rapid technological innovation, pushing the development of new techniques far beyond what was previously possible. His role in the story is that of a major supporting antagonist, operating from the shadows of Minami as a key asset of its leader. During significant events such as Operation Red Night, he was present on the Steel Train, contributing to the guild's plans while indulging in his habit of tormenting his colleague Quon. His research has led to notable achievements, including the successful reactivation of the city gate using magical condensation techniques and, during the events of the story, the development of armored vehicles, which were not part of the original game.

Despite being a former master to Li Gan, the current Sage of Mirror Lake, Jered Gan's personal relationship with his old apprentice appears to be one of abandonment and secrecy. Li Gan has stated that he believes his master to be dead, indicating that Jered Gan did not inform him of his true fate and may have intentionally concealed his continued existence. Whether Li Gan is truly unaware or is complicit in a deeper conspiracy with his former master remains a point of ambiguity. In terms of notable abilities, Jered Gan is a prominent authority on magic and history among the Landers. He is a Summoner-class character who functions as an attacker. His research has allowed him to create and utilize rare items that bypass normal game restrictions, such as an artifact that allows the summoning of followers regardless of their class, which he then uses to gain experience points in unconventional ways. Jered Gan represents a figure of dangerous, unchecked ambition and scientific progress within the new world of Theldesia.
