Description
Adolf Reinhard is a German officer and a key figure in the Annex I project, holding the rank of captain and being recognized as the second most powerful member of the entire mission. He is 27 years old, born on December 25, with a tall, lean build standing 180 centimeters and weighing 88 kilograms. His appearance is striking and often intimidating, characterized by short blonde hair and light green eyes. However, his most defining physical traits are the severe burn scars and disfigurement that cover much of his body, particularly his jaw and neck, which he habitually conceals by pulling up the collar of his jacket.

Despite his frightening and initially blunt exterior, Reinhard possesses a deeply kind and caring personality. His early interactions can seem cold and dismissive, as he speaks with a detached air and makes harsh statements about the likelihood of his subordinates dying during the mission. This aloofness is a mask he has worn since childhood, a defense mechanism to hide his profound loneliness and the pain of his disfigurement. In truth, he is a selfless individual willing to sacrifice his own life to protect those in his care.

Reinhard's motivations are rooted in a tragic past. At the age of seven, he and his parents became part of the BUGS2 project. After his parents died from the surgeries, he was left an orphan and taken into military custody, becoming a test subject for the Mosaic Organ Operation. His defining act of selflessness occurred at this young age; he volunteered to be a test subject specifically to spare other children from the same suffering. This experience left him feeling like a tool or a weapon, used by others and isolated from normal human connection. The one exception was a woman named Rosa, who became his wife. She was the first person to make him feel like a normal human being. This love is so profound that even after discovering she had been unfaithful and that her child was not his own, Reinhard could not bring himself to divorce her, unable to let go of the only person who ever showed him kindness.

His role in the story is as a captain leading a squad of European soldiers on the surface of Mars. His primary objective is to secure a cure for the lethal A.E. Virus while protecting his team from the violent Terraformars. Key relationships include his protective, paternalistic attitude toward his subordinates, such as Isabella R. Leon and Eva Frost. His most significant off-screen relationship is with his wife, Rosa, whose betrayal serves as a source of deep emotional pain that resurfaces during his final battle. Throughout the Annex I mission, Reinhard demonstrates significant character development, shedding his cold initial persona to reveal the weeping, emotionally raw, and fiercely protective warrior underneath. In his final moments, after exhausting himself by single-handedly decimating countless Terraformars, he uses his last ounce of strength not to fight, but to shield the wounded Eva Frost from a barrage of rocks. He is ultimately killed when an explosive device implanted in his body detonates, ensuring his death and the destruction of his entire squad.

Reinhard’s notable abilities are derived from his Mosaic Organ surgery, which is based on the electric eel. This grants him the power to generate and discharge powerful electrical currents from his muscles. He is highly proficient in using this ability in combat, often channeling his electricity through dozens of kunai or throwing knives that he carries beneath his jacket, allowing him to electrocute large groups of enemies simultaneously. His electrical prowess is so refined that he can use it as a form of radar to detect enemies and can even restart his own heart with a defibrillator-like electric shock when near death. Despite his devastating area-of-effect attacks, this power is dangerous to his allies, often forcing him to fight alone. He is also noted to be a capable cook, with his favorite food being his wife's curry.
