TV-Series
Description
Elena Perepelkina is a Russian member of the Annex Project, the mission to Mars intended to find a cure for the A.E. virus that is devastating Earth. She joins the endeavor alongside her brother, Ivan Perepelkin, as part of Squad 3, which is led by Sylvester Asimov.
In terms of personality, Elena is characterized as being calm, serious, and self-confident. She is portrayed as the opposite of her brother, speaking very little and maintaining a composed demeanor in contrast to his more expressive nature. This calm behavior extends to her conduct as a professional, where she is described as exceptionally serious and reliable.
Her primary motivation for joining the dangerous Annex Project is shared with her brother: to find a cure for the A.E. virus, a deadly disease affecting Earth, which likely has personal implications for them as Russian citizens. Elena serves as a subordinate to Sylvester Asimov, who trusts her greatly, treating her almost like a second-in-command. Asimov has confidence in her abilities as the best marksman in the North Sea, particularly with a specialized net launcher designed to capture Terraformars. Her role on the mission is that of a skilled operative and marksman, but her involvement is tragically brief.
During the Annex 1 Arc, following the execution of Plan Delta, Elena's group is attacked by a particularly powerful and stealthy Terraformar. After it kills one of her comrades, she moves quickly to retrieve the anti-Terraformar net launcher to capture the creature. However, as she locks onto her target, the Terraformar uses a super-speed ability to decapitate her before she can fire, resulting in her immediate death. This early demise means she has no significant lasting relationships beyond her affiliation with Squad 3 and her connection to her brother and commander.
Elena underwent the M.O. operation to receive animal or plant DNA to strengthen her body for combat on Mars, but she was killed before she could actively demonstrate any of these abilities in battle. However, official material reveals that her base surgery type was the Atropa Belladonna plant, also known as deadly nightshade. This would have theoretically granted her the ability to produce tropane alkaloids, though this power was never realized in the story. Before her death, her most notable ability was her exceptional skill as a marksman, being entrusted with the squad's specialized net launcher due to her precision and accuracy.
