TV-Series
Description
Gasquet is a character who appears in both Hamatora: The Animation and its sequel series, Re: Hamatora. He serves as a detective and the partner of Art, another key figure within the police force. In his professional capacity, Gasquet is frequently seen working on cases that involve individuals known as Minimum Holders, people who possess special supernatural abilities.

In terms of personality, Gasquet initially presents himself as a competent and level-headed officer, dedicated to his duties and the pursuit of justice. He works closely with Art, often offering advice and attempting to manage the more volatile aspects of his partner's personality. However, this straightforward exterior conceals a more calculating and morally ambiguous nature. During the events of the first season, Gasquet is revealed to have a secret agenda. After a researcher informs him that a particular criminal might have been artificially "given" a Minimum rather than being born with one, Gasquet coldly murders the scientist to protect this information. This act reveals that he is not simply a loyal detective but someone willing to kill to keep certain truths hidden, putting him in opposition to the series' protagonists.

Gasquet's primary motivation appears to be tied to this larger, concealed scheme regarding the true nature of Minimums. His actions suggest a deep involvement in the underlying conspiracy of the series, acting to suppress evidence about how these powers are transferred or created. This puts him on a collision course with both his partner, Art, and the freelance detective agency known as Hamatora.

His role in the story is pivotal as a bridge between the police force and the more sinister elements at play. During the first season, he becomes an obstacle for the main characters as they investigate mysterious deaths among Minimum Holders. The character's true colors complicate the investigation, as the heroes must contend with a threat from within the system. By the time of Re: Hamatora, his role shifts. He becomes more directly antagonistic towards Art's new path. In the fifth episode of Re: Hamatora, titled Buddy's Wishes, Gasquet investigates Art's recent activities and uncovers his plans with the organization known as Freemum. Believing he cannot trust his fellow officers, he contacts the members of Hamatora for aid. He then confronts Art and Freemum at a prison facility. During the ensuing conflict, Gasquet is overwhelmed and killed. His final words express confusion as to why Art did not trust him, a sentiment that deeply affects Nice, the leader of Hamatora, and strengthens his resolve to stop Art.

Key relationships define Gasquet's arc. His partnership with Art is the most central. While they work together, Gasquet often acts as a stabilizing force, but this dynamic is built on a foundation of secrets, as Gasquet appears to be feeding information to other parties. In Re: Hamatora, his new partner is revealed to be a traitor who leaked the location of a Minimum Holder to a mysterious entity referred to as Saikyo. He is also connected to the scientist he kills, a relationship that highlights his willingness to go to extreme lengths to protect his objectives.

Gasquet does not have a significant character development arc, as his narrative purpose culminates in his death. His notable ability is not a supernatural Minimum power but his skill as a detective and his capacity for deception. He effectively manipulates his surroundings and maintains a cover as a trustworthy officer while working towards his own undisclosed goals. His death serves as a major turning point, demonstrating the escalating stakes of the conflict and the ruthlessness of the opposing forces. A memorial service is held for him in the following episode, indicating his significance and marking his absence from the remainder of the series.
