TV-Series
Description
Chairman Edoyama, also known as Edoyama-oyabun, is the father of Murasaki Edoyama and the respected leader of a powerful Yakuza gang. His appearance is that of a middle-aged man with a full beard and a distinct scar across his left eye, marking him as a figure who has likely seen considerable conflict.

In terms of personality, Edoyama is portrayed as a man who, despite his position in the criminal underworld, genuinely cares for his daughter. While his role in the story is limited, his primary motivation stems from this paternal bond, driving him to take significant risks to ensure her safety. His most notable action in the narrative occurs during the Hotokeda Gang Arc. When a rival gang leader named Hotokeda arrives at his home demanding control of his territory, Edoyama refuses. In retaliation, Hotokeda kidnaps Murasaki. Rather than marshaling his forces, Edoyama decides to invade the rival hideout alone, showcasing a willingness to sacrifice himself for his daughter. However, he arrives at the location after Murasaki has already been rescued by other characters.

The key relationship in Edoyama's life is with his daughter. Following the kidnapping incident, Murasaki decides to leave home, yet Edoyama continues to support her from a distance, delivering personal belongings to her. In a significant gesture, he gives her a ring that was her mother's heritage, indicating a layer of sentimentality and a desire to keep his family connected even when they are apart. This act highlights a softer side to the Yakuza chairman.

Edoyama does not undergo any significant personal development within the main narrative, remaining a static figure defined by his paternal instincts and his position as a crime boss. Unlike many other characters in the series, he does not possess any supernatural esper abilities. He is a normal human, though it is implied that he is highly skilled in swordsmanship and proficient with firearms, abilities befitting a man of his rank and background. A notable piece of trivia about his character design is that he is based on the historical figure Leonidas I, the Spartan king. This inspiration likely informs his brave, self-sacrificing decision to confront an enemy force alone.
