Description
Doll is a young woman who serves as a first-tier member of the Noah's Ark Circus, performing as a skilled tightrope walker. She is distinguished by her physical appearance, including brown hair, blue eyes, and a face dotted with freckles. A defining feature is her damaged left eye, which is a burn mark or deformity resulting from harsh treatment by her parents during her childhood. She keeps this eye concealed at all times, usually by allowing her hair to fall over it or by using her performance wig and costume. When not in her circus attire, she dresses in baggy, masculine clothes and adopts the persona of a boy named Freckles, a cover that allows her to room in the shared second-tier tents because she dislikes sleeping alone. Her true name is never revealed, with Doll being a stage name given to her by Joker.

Doll has a warm, friendly, and notably naive personality. She is cordial and welcoming, forming a quick attachment to Ciel Phantomhive when he infiltrates the circus under the name Smile and becomes her tent mate. She takes it upon herself to look after him, waking him when he oversleeps, sharing her food, and trying to help him improve his performance skills. Her naivety makes her gullible, and she readily believes the lies Ciel tells her, a trait that other circus members often criticize. She is not particularly modest, once proving her gender to a doubtful Ciel by placing his hand on her chest and offering to let him see more. Her most defining trait is her profound loyalty to her fellow first-tier performers, whom she considers her true family, referring to them as her brothers and sisters. She sees Baron Kelvin, the circus's patron, as a father figure, but her emotional devastation is far greater over the potential loss of her surrogate siblings.

Doll grew up in the slums of the East End, a "gutter," where she and the other core circus members lived as unsuccessful thieves. They were all outcasts with physical or personal flaws, and in Doll's case, this was her disfigured eye. They were taken in by Baron Kelvin, who provided them with a life of relative luxury and helped them form the Noah's Ark Circus. Her primary motivation is to protect and remain loyal to her found family. She values the bonds she has formed and is desperate to preserve the life they have built together.

In the story, Doll plays a crucial role as Ciel's unwitting ally and confidant during his undercover investigation. She helps him avoid detection by other circus members after he is caught snooping and chooses to forgive him when he lies, claiming he was just a thief. Despite being reprimanded by her fellow performers for trusting an outsider, she remains loyal to the promise she made with Ciel. She is later sent to Baron Kelvin's manor to deliver a message, arriving just in time to see it engulfed in flames. Confronting Ciel and his demon butler Sebastian, she learns that they are responsible for killing Baron Kelvin and Joker as part of their mission to destroy the circus. Devastated by this betrayal, she refuses to forgive Ciel and attacks him. The implication is that she is killed by Sebastian on Ciel's orders. Her arc is a tragic one, highlighting the cruel consequences of Ciel's revenge.

Her key relationships are all centered on the circus. She looks up to Joker as a leader and brother figure and is fiercely protective of the other first-tier members. Her relationship with Ciel is complex, as she genuinely believes she has made a friend, only to be betrayed fatally. In terms of abilities, Doll is exceptionally agile and serves as the circus's tightrope walker. She carries a parasol for her performances and, in her final desperate moments, wields a knife to attack her enemies.
