Description
Freiya Ooshima is a central figure in Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok, and she exists in two distinct forms: the human girl Reiya Ooshima and the Norse goddess Freya. Her identity is a secret that unfolds over the course of the story.

In her human guise, Reiya Ooshima is a young, quiet, and shy girl who appears fragile at first glance. She comes from a wealthy family and has a determined side that belies her delicate appearance, such as being good at running marathons. Orphaned after losing her parents in a car accident, she lives alone under the care of a butler. Seeking help with strange occurrences in her home, she visits the Enjaku Detective Agency and hires Loki to investigate. In this form, she is sweet and harbors a genuine, innocent crush on Loki, who is trapped in the body of a child.

Reiya is secretly the human incarnation of Freya, the Norse goddess of love and fertility. Unlike Loki, who is aware of his divine nature, Reiya’s memories as a goddess have been erased, and she lives her life believing she is simply an ordinary girl. She is also the sister of Frey, another god who descends to Earth.

The transformation from Reiya into Freya is triggered under specific conditions. The most direct method is through the Brisingamen necklace, her signature piece of jewelry. When the necklace is placed around her neck, Reiya awakens into her true, adult goddess form. When the necklace is removed, she reverts to being Reiya, retaining no memory of her actions as Freya. The transformation can also occur spontaneously due to extreme emotional states, such as intense jealousy or fear.

As Freya, her appearance changes dramatically. She transforms from a small, brown-haired girl into a tall, statuesque, and beautiful blonde woman with a more assertive and aggressive personality. Her defining motivation is her unrequited love for Loki. In Asgard, she descended to the human world specifically to find him, and as Freya, she is desperate and forceful in her pursuit of his affection. In the anime, when Loki does not return her feelings, her anger and frustration become so intense that she attempts to kill him.

Within the story, Freiya plays the dual role of a client seeking Loki’s detective services and a divine being from his past whose arrival significantly complicates his mortal life. Her presence introduces a direct link to Asgard and deepens the romantic tensions. A key relationship is with her older brother, Frey. Frey came to Earth with the mission to destroy Loki but quickly abandoned it to search for his missing sister. Their sibling dynamic is playful and chaotic; in the anime, Freya is known to scold her brother by hitting him with a metal basin, and together they are referred to as the "moronic siblings" for their shared, hopeless approach to romance. While Frey is protective and interferes with Loki’s time with Freya, the exact nature of his feelings is a subject of ambiguity.

Freiya does not possess overt combat abilities in the traditional sense. Her power is inherent to her divine status and her identity as the goddess of love. Her most significant abilities are tied to her transformation and the emotional force of her divine love, which drives the primary conflict of her personal arc.
