ONA
Description
Naru Oosaka is a supporting character in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal. She is Usagi Tsukino’s best friend and classmate, introduced at the beginning of the series. Her mother owns a jewelry shop called Osa-P, and the two live together in Tokyo. Naru has short, wavy red hair and blue eyes, and is typically seen in her school uniform or casual clothes.

In terms of personality, Naru is kind-hearted, gentle, and supportive. She is a loyal friend who often encourages Usagi, especially when Usagi feels discouraged about her school performance or personal troubles. Naru is also sociable and popular among her peers. She does not have any supernatural abilities and remains an ordinary human throughout the series. Her motivations are centered on her everyday life: maintaining her friendships, helping at her mother’s store, and navigating the typical concerns of a teenage girl.

Naru’s role in the story is that of a civilian friend who occasionally becomes entangled in the conflicts between the Sailor Guardians and their enemies. In the early episodes of Crystal, she and her mother are among the first victims of a youma attack, and Naru later hero-worships Sailor Moon for saving them. She appears in the first three story arcs of Crystal (the Dark Kingdom, Black Moon, and Infinity arcs), but her screen time decreases as the series progresses. In the later arcs, her presence is minimal, and in Sailor Moon Cosmos she only appears in a speech bubble. Unlike the 1990s anime adaptation, Crystal does not depict Naru in romantic relationships with either Nephrite or Gurio Umino; these storylines are absent from the manga and Crystal.

Key relationships include her close friendship with Usagi, which remains constant throughout the series. She is also shown interacting with other classmates, such as Gurio Umino, but this relationship does not develop into a romance in Crystal. Naru’s development is limited because she does not undergo any significant personal transformation or gain special powers. She remains a steady, normal presence who grounds Usagi in the ordinary world, highlighting the contrast between Usagi’s life as a magical guardian and her everyday life as a student.

Naru has no notable combat or magical abilities. Her primary strengths are her empathy, loyalty, and resilience in the face of danger. She serves as a reminder of the people the Sailor Guardians are protecting and the value of ordinary human connections.
