Description
Kyōhei Kannazuki is a supporting character in Date A Live II. He is a human male, twenty-eight years old, with blonde hair and brown eyes, standing 181 centimeters tall. Kannazuki serves as the vice-commander of the Ratatoskr organization aboard the Fraxinus. Prior to this role, he was a member and former captain of the Anti-Spirit Team, a military force tasked with neutralizing spirits.
Kannazuki often presents a flamboyant and eccentric demeanor, with a pronounced masochistic streak that leads him to seek out discomfort or punishment from his superiors, especially from the commander, Kotori Itsuka. Despite these odd tendencies, he is genuinely loyal to Ratatoskr and respects Kotori deeply. When a serious situation arises, he is capable of setting aside his quirks and acting with the competence expected of a former AST captain. He can be foolish in casual moments, but his underlying judgment and experience allow him to contribute effectively to the team’s operations.
His primary motivation is to support Ratatoskr’s mission of peacefully interacting with spirits and sealing their powers, as well as faithfully serving Kotori’s commands. In Date A Live II, Kannazuki operates as part of the bridge crew, providing guidance and commentary during Shido Itsuka’s dates with the spirits. He is among those who encourage Shido to take romantic initiative with Tohka Yatogami. He also assists in briefing Shido and helps retrieve information from the organization’s archives.
Kannazuki maintains a friendly and informal relationship with Shido, showing concern for his well-being during moments of stress or memory recovery. His bond with Kotori is defined by his theatrical deference to her authority, which she finds exasperating but tolerates because of his reliability. Among the other Ratatoskr crew members, he interacts as a colleague and occasional source of comic relief.
While Kannazuki possesses no supernatural abilities, his military background implies proficiency in combat and tactical analysis. His most notable ability is his capacity to switch from exaggerated eccentricity to sharp focus when the mission demands it, a trait that underscores his value to the organization. Throughout the season, his character does not undergo significant personal change but remains a consistent, dependable presence within the supporting cast.
