TV-Series
Description
Izuna Hatsuse is a young girl of the Werebeast race, introduced as a former ambassador representing the Eastern Federation to the kingdom of Elchea. At eight years old, she has a small, childlike stature, but her appearance is distinctly marked by her non-human heritage. She possesses large, fox-like ears and a bushy tail, with dark purple hair and chestnut-colored eyes in the anime adaptation. She typically wears a traditional kimono fastened with a large ribbon at the waist. When she activates a powerful state known as Blood Destruction, her fur, hair, and eyes shift to a deep, blood-red color, and a red marking appears on her forehead.

In terms of personality, Izuna embodies a blend of childlike innocence and trained, deadly efficiency. She often behaves in a manner befitting her age, being playful and curious, yet she carries the weight of significant responsibility. Her speech has a notably formal quirk, as she frequently ends her sentences with "desu" in an attempt to sound polite. Due to the influence of her grandfather, she sometimes mistakenly uses coarse or even insulting language towards humans, believing it to be a form of respect, a habit she is unaware of. Despite her small size, she is fiercely proud of her abilities and, like the main characters Sora and Shiro, can come across as arrogant towards others.

The core of Izuna's motivation shifts dramatically over the course of the story. Initially, she is driven solely by duty. Raised as a prodigy and the national representative of the Werebeasts, she has been trained to win at all costs. She approaches games not with joy, but as a tool for political and national superiority, carrying immense pressure to succeed. This makes her a formidable but hollow opponent. Her primary motivation becomes redefined when she encounters Sora and Shiro, who challenge her to find personal enjoyment in competition for the first time.

Her role in the narrative is primarily that of a rival who transforms into an ally. She is first introduced as a powerful adversary for the protagonists in a high-stakes video game. As the former ambassador, she is the key representative of the Eastern Federation, sent to challenge Imanity. After her defeat, she is ordered by the Miko, the leader of the Werebeasts, to follow Sora and Shiro to learn from them, becoming a supporting member of their growing alliance. Her most significant relationships are with her grandfather, Hatsuse Ino, who is her handler and trainer, and with Sora and Shiro, the sibling duo known as Blank. While she respects and cares for her grandfather, she holds a deep, genuine fondness for Sora and Shiro, enjoying their company and the way they pet her ears and tail, preferring their technique to her grandfather's. In turn, Sora and Shiro treat her with affection, and she develops a close, sibling-like bond with them.

A key part of Izuna's development is her journey from a tool of the state to an individual who can experience joy. Initially, she is stoic and mission-focused, but during her game against Blank, Sora asks her when she last had fun playing a game. This question plants a seed of doubt in her disciplined mindset. As the game intensifies, she loses herself in the thrill of the competition for the first time, experiencing genuine delight and a feral, joyful smile. This victory of self-discovery is more significant than the match's outcome, marking her transition from a mere soldier to a free-spirited individual who can now enjoy games for their own sake.

Izuna possesses several notable abilities that make her a powerful opponent. As a Werebeast, she has inherently superior physical attributes, including incredible speed, strength, and reflexes. More uniquely, she is a rare "Blood Destruction" individual. This state temporarily elevates her physical capabilities to a level that defies normal physical laws, granting her near-superhuman prowess. However, this power places an immense strain on her body, and its use risks severe injury or death, limiting its activation to just a few seconds. She also has an enhanced sense of smell so precise that she can detect lies by scent. Furthermore, she exhibits an extraordinary aptitude for learning anything related to games, capable of mastering a new language in a single night by studying a gaming textbook, though this rapid learning does not typically extend to non-game subjects.
