Description
Livius I, whose full name is Livius Orvinus Ifrikia, is the young ruler of the Sun Kingdom and one of the two central characters in the story. He became king after the death of his father, the former king, and ascended to the throne at a very young age. His mother was a commoner, and because of her low social status, she and Livius lived an isolated life within the palace during her lifetime. Following her death, Livius grew cold, cruel, and deeply distrustful of everyone around him. Within only three years of his reign, he conquered the world through strategic acumen and political maneuvering, earning a fearsome reputation as the Sun King. In the anime, he is fifteen years old.

Livius initially presents a cold, calculating, and aloof demeanor. He is blunt and expects the best from those around him, punishing those who fail to meet his standards. His isolation after his mother's death contributed greatly to his emotional walls, and as his adviser Neil notes, Livius does not know how to reach out to people because he feels surrounded only by enemies. Beneath this harsh exterior, however, he possesses a vulnerable side that only emerges once he begins to develop feelings for Nike. He is easily made jealous and becomes possessive of her, zealously warding off other men and reacting viciously when he perceives a threat to his claim on her, even going so far as to imprison his own uncle. Despite this, he does trust Nike, though his distrust is directed at other men around her. His primary motivation early in the story is to strengthen his kingdom and, literally, to conquer the skies, as he is tired of seeing nothing but unending sunlight in his realm. He sees Nike's rain-summoning ability as a means to bring rain to his land. As the story progresses, his motivations shift from mere conquest to seeking genuine emotional connection and understanding, and he learns the value of love and teamwork.

Livius's role in the story is that of the male lead and the catalyst for much of the plot. His decision to marry Nike, the fourth princess of the Rain Dukedom, sets the central relationship in motion. He is the ruler of the Sun Kingdom, and his political and military power shapes the world around him. His personal growth from a cold, lonely king into someone capable of love and vulnerability is a core thread of the narrative.

His most significant relationship is with Nike Lemercier, his love interest and eventual fiancée. Their marriage begins as a political arrangement, but Nike's refusal to summon rain on command and her insistence on showing him the beauty of the world gradually break through his emotional defenses. Nike acts as an emotional lifeline for Livius, helping him learn to trust and open up. Their relationship is marked by mutual growth, with Livius learning empathy and understanding from Nike. Another important relationship is with Neil, one of his loyal subjects who serves as a confidant and adviser, often highlighting Livius's emotional struggles and isolation. Livius also has a complex relationship with his uncle Bardwin Cecil Ifrikia, whom he at one point imprisons over jealousy regarding Nike. The influence of his parents looms large over his character, as his father's legacy as king and his mother's low status and isolation shaped his worldview and approach to ruling.

Livius undergoes significant development throughout the story. He starts as a solitary ruler focused solely on power and control, distrustful of everyone. Through his interactions with Nike, who sets him tasks to test his character and gives him advice about his feelings, he begins to develop emotional stability. He evolves from a cold conqueror into a more caring leader, learning that being a good ruler involves empathy, understanding, and respect for others rather than ruling with an iron fist. His emotional growth enhances his leadership style and allows him to better understand his people. By the end of the story, he and Nike become formally engaged, and he has fully embraced a more open and loving worldview.

As king, Livius wields significant political and military power. He does not possess combat-oriented abilities or supernatural powers; rather, his strengths lie in his keen intelligence, strategic acumen, and firm governance. He eliminated government corruption in his kingdom and defeated rival nations through clever strategy. His relationship with Nike allows him to indirectly leverage her rain-summoning abilities. While his core abilities as a ruler do not evolve much on a supernatural level, his emotional growth significantly improves his capacity to rule with wisdom and compassion.
