TV-Series
Description
Anne is a minor ally who appears during the early part of the Stardust Crusaders storyline. She is a young runaway, approximately eleven or twelve years old, who first encounters the group while they are traveling by sea to Singapore. When she is introduced, she is disguised as a boy, wearing a cap and masculine clothing, a tactic she believes will make her journey easier. Her true identity as a girl is discovered by Jotaro Kujo after she jumps overboard and he is forced to rescue her from a shark.
Anne has a slim build with long, dark hair and freckles on her face. Her usual outfit consists of overalls paired with a light shirt. After her initial disguise is uncovered, she discards the cap and no longer attempts to hide her gender.
In terms of personality, Anne is depicted as a spirited, brash, and somewhat capricious child. She is bold to the point of recklessness, having run away from home on her own to see the world. This courage is balanced by a lack of maturity; she often talks excessively, annoying the members of the group during their travels. She has a tendency to overestimate her own abilities, once brandishing a pocketknife at the Stardust Crusaders and pretending to be a cold-blooded killer when they were deciding what to do with her.
Her motivation stems from a desire for adventure and a feeling that she has nothing more pressing to do. She is also drawn to Jotaro Kujo, developing a visible crush on him over the course of their journey. She admires his appearance and stoic attitude, and the anime adaptation expands on this by showing her happiness when he acknowledges her.
Anne plays the role of an unexpected tagalong to the main group. After being found as a stowaway, she refuses to leave the protagonists despite their attempts to send her back home, eventually sneaking after them again when they believe they have left her behind in Singapore. She continues to travel with Jotaro, Joseph, Avdol, Kakyoin, and Polnareff until the group reaches Pakistan. Her presence often places her in danger, as she has no way to defend herself against the Stand-wielding enemies they face. During the battle against the Stand Wheel of Fortune, her recklessness is highlighted when she freezes and screams for help instead of fleeing, forcing Jotaro to save her and scold her for her behavior.
Regarding key relationships, her primary interaction is with Jotaro Kujo, whom she looks up to and develops a fondness for. She also interacts with the rest of the group, often annoying them with her chatter, though Jean Pierre Polnareff notably mentions feeling a bit isolated when her presence is gone. She also briefly attracts the unwanted attention of Forever, an orangutan Stand user who spies on her.
Throughout her time in the story, Anne undergoes little character development, remaining a stubborn and independent child. However, she does ultimately accept Joseph Joestar's advice to end her runaway journey, returning home after he explains the seriousness of their mission to save Holy Kujo's life.
Anne has no notable supernatural abilities. She does not possess a Stand, making her exceptionally vulnerable compared to the main cast. Her only skills are being a strong swimmer, as she once attempted to swim from a boat to a distant shore, and carrying a knife for self-defense.
