Description
Nishiki originates from the Fuuma ninja clan, marked as "half-baked" due to incomplete initiation rituals. This duality manifests physically: the left side of her body displays Fuuma traits—white hair and violet eyes—while the right side retains ordinary dark hair and dark eyes. Initially concealing her heritage with a pink wig and prison guard uniform, she later adopts ninja attire—a sleeveless black-and-purple tunic, arm guards, and thigh-high boots. After joining the Kumo family, she wears a traditional shrine maiden outfit of red pants and a white shirt.
Born in the Fuuma village, Nishiki endured the clan's harsh initiation, requiring her to kill someone dear—later revealed as her sister—and prove resilience through confinement in a box. Unable to withstand the darkness, she fled the ritual, abandoning her clan. Her activities between leaving the village and appearing at Gokumonjo prison remain undocumented.
Initially driven by vengeance against those she blamed for destroying the Fuuma clan, Nishiki infiltrated Gokumonjo prison as a guard. Her path fundamentally shifted during a prison riot upon encountering Soramaru Kumo. He urged her to abandon revenge, smile, and live for herself. This led her to seek him out post-riot, requesting a new purpose. Though Soramaru reiterated advice to live independently, she ultimately pledged loyalty to him and the Kumo family.
Nishiki exhibits a serious, reserved demeanor and unwavering task dedication. Her combat proficiency contrasts sharply with poor domestic skills, particularly cooking. She expresses deep devotion to Soramaru, often reacting emotionally to his kindness—crying when praised or blushing in his presence. This loyalty manifests protectively; she threatened Sousei Abeno with a kunai for approaching Soramaru and declared willingness to kill threats to the Kumo family. Her resolve was tested when clan leader Sousei demanded Soramaru’s surrender. Defying her clan, she chose to save Soramaru by killing the Orochi entity possessing him, prioritizing his safety over past allegiances.
Her character arc culminates in marrying Soramaru, depicted in the credits of the third film. Additional traits include a hobby of flower pressing and documented instances of poorly made rice balls that amused allies like Rakuchou Takeda.
