Description
Kanna Ogata serves as the younger sister of Shu Ogata and a pivotal force in Bayron City's events. She vanished at age three during the Hive-3 orogonium mine disaster orchestrated 12 years prior by the demon Asmodeus, who possessed her mother Sayuri Ogata. Her father Isamu Ogata's intervention caused the mine's destruction; while Shu survived, Kanna was presumed dead but endured in the demon world. Her very existence stemmed from Asmodeus's scheme, forging her as a human-demon hybrid designed to function as a living "gate" between realms. This heritage froze her physical growth at three years old and halted mental development for 12 years, leaving her with the emotional capacity of a young child despite her chronological age.
She presents as a young girl with dark brown hair and blue eyes, standing 145 cm tall. In her demon form, blue wings and horns manifest, distinct from other demons like Kisara. Her typical attire includes blue shorts, a pink hooded jacket, a white shoulder-baring camisole, striped socks, and pink footwear.
Kanna’s personality centers on an obsessive attachment to Shu, her sole surviving relative. During her demon-world confinement, she observed Shu’s life through dreams, cultivating extreme jealousy toward women close to him—Kisara, Ayano Yugiri, and Sharon Holygrail—whom she deemed "annoying bugs" corrupting his honor and sought to eliminate. This jealousy ignited from witnessing Shu’s past romantic entanglements and financial hardships in Kisara’s memories. Post-redemption, she regained stability but retained a sharp, sarcastic wit and protectiveness toward Shu, frequently escaping confinement to visit his home while displaying a prodigious appetite.
As an S-class demon, Kanna wields immense power exceeding high-level entities like Kisara. Her abilities encompass flight in demon form and combat with a specialized spear. Her "gate" role enables summoning lesser demons and projecting energy beams from the gate structure on her back. She also employs a memory-extraction blade, used to access Kisara’s recollections of Shu. Due to her instability and power, Bayron City authorities confined her underground post-defeat, though she regularly breaches these restrictions.
Her relationship with Shu defines her motivations. Viewing him as her only anchor, she reacts with violent jealousy toward women near him. She specifically targeted Kisara after seeing memories of Shu’s intimacy with her and assaulted Ayano over their past romance. Even after regaining self-awareness, Kanna distrusted Ayano as a rival for Shu’s attention. Her dynamic with Kisara shifted from hostility to complexity after Kisara and Shu united to pacify her rampage.
Her arc involves awakening under Asmodeus’s influence, triggering a jealousy-fueled rampage across Bayron City to purge "insects" from Shu’s life. She nearly fully opened the demon-world gate, enabling Asmodeus’s physical manifestation. Shu and Kisara intervened, calming Kanna and severing Asmodeus’s control. Post-conflict, she entered official confinement but habitually escapes to visit Shu. Within the Project Engage franchise, she features as a playable character in "Engage Kill," exploring her story further, especially in routes involving Shu.
