Description
Jubia Lobskar, also known as Juvia Lockser, is a powerful mage who initially serves as an antagonist before becoming a devoted member of the Fairy Tail guild. Her past is marked by loneliness and isolation, a direct consequence of her unique magical nature. Since childhood, rain would fall wherever she went, a phenomenon that caused others to shun her and left her feeling perpetually gloomy and unwanted. In an attempt to stop the rain, she would craft small traditional dolls called Teru Teru Bozu, but they never worked, only serving to increase her feelings of being an outcast. This lifelong sadness earned her the melancholy title of "Rain Woman". Her situation changed when she was recruited by Master Jose of the Phantom Lord guild, who accepted her for who she was and made her one of the guild's elite, the Element 4, where she was given the epithet "Juvia of the Great Sea".

Jubia's entire world changes upon her first encounter with Gray Fullbuster. During a battle between their guilds, she is instantly smitten with him and loses her will to fight. After her defeat, Gray inadvertently causes the clouds to part, allowing her to see the sun for the first time, a moment that solidifies her deep affection for him. Her love for Gray is the most defining aspect of her personality, driving many of her actions. She is intensely and openly infatuated, often referring to him as "Gray-sama" and speaking of him with dramatic devotion. This love is portrayed with comedic exaggeration, as she frequently spies on him from behind the guild's announcement board, becomes fiercely jealous of any woman who gets too close, and constructs elaborate romantic fantasies about their future together. However, her feelings are not merely a source of comedy; they are also a profound source of strength. Erza Scarlet notes that it is her love for Gray that allows her to become more powerful, and when Gray is threatened, her normally gentle demeanor transforms into something ferocious and dark.

Although her love for Gray is what drew her to Fairy Tail, her desire to join runs deeper. She was profoundly moved by the warmth and camaraderie shared among the guild's members, something she never experienced in the more rigid and menacing atmosphere of Phantom Lord. Upon being accepted, she becomes a fiercely loyal and caring friend, valuing her new family above all else. During the Battle of Fairy Tail arc, when magical runes force her to fight her guildmate Cana Alberona, Jubia refuses and instead chooses to sacrifice herself by attacking a lightning lacrima, declaring that her dream is to be accepted and that she loves everyone in her new family. This desire for acceptance underscores her character; she is eager to please and goes to great lengths to prove her loyalty.

Throughout the story, Jubia forms several important bonds. Her relationship with Gray remains central, evolving slowly over time. While he is often exasperated by her overt affections and has a tendency to keep his distance, he comes to deeply trust her as a comrade and partner. After living together for a period, she even picks up his odd habit of unconsciously removing his clothes. She considers Lucy Heartfilia her primary romantic rival for Gray's affection, though this rivalry is mixed with genuine friendship and respect. Interestingly, she shares a close, unspoken bond with Gajeel Redfox, another former Phantom Lord mage who joined Fairy Tail. They are often seen fighting together or supporting one another, and she is one of the few people he encourages publicly. She also develops a significant friendship with Meredy, a former enemy whom Jubia defeats by reaching out to her with compassion rather than violence.

As a water mage, Jubia's abilities are versatile and potent. She can create powerful streams, crushing waves, and blades of water capable of cutting through solid rock. She can also transform her own body into water, a fluid state that allows physical and many magical attacks to pass through her harmlessly, effectively making her intangible. One of her signature spells is Water Lock, a prison of water used to capture enemies. Her power is highly tied to her emotional state; extreme jealousy or fury can cause her water to boil, increasing its destructive power. She is also capable of performing a Unison Raid, a powerful combination magic, most notably with Gray, where their water and ice abilities complement each other perfectly. A unique trait is that her emotions directly affect the weather; her sadness brings rain, while her happiness brings fair skies. Notably, after falling in love with Gray, the perpetual rain that once haunted her finally ceases. She has a habit of referring to herself in the third person and often speaks politely, addressing most people with honorifics. Her Fairy Tail guild mark is located on her left thigh.
