Alzack Connell is a Mage from a western country who immigrated to the town of Magnolia and joined the Fairy Tail Guild. He is of average height with a slim build, possessing dark eyes and long, wavy black hair that originally covered the right side of his face and his right eye. His early attire reflects a cowboy-inspired style, consisting of a large dark brown poncho with a tasseled edge, torn pants, and a studded belt with a skull-shaped buckle. Following a seven-year time skip, his appearance matures; his hair becomes shorter and spikier, styled to reveal his full face, and he adds small tassel earrings. His outfit updates to a lighter-colored poncho with dark stripes over a dark vest, paired with a new belt buckle shaped like a stylized sun.

Alzack is characterized by a kind and determined nature, possessing a deep and genuine love for his comrades, for whom he is willing to risk his life. However, this resolute demeanor initially falters when it comes to Bisca Mulan, a fellow immigrant from his homeland who also joined Fairy Tail. He was originally very shy and hesitant around her, but he eventually overcame this to form a team with her. His extreme dedication to Bisca is a defining trait; during the Battle of Fairy Tail arc, when she was turned to stone by an enemy, he became fiercely determined to save her, declaring he would never forgive the perpetrator and even fighting and defeating his own guild mates to rescue her. After his marriage, his devotion extends to his family above all else, and he develops a strong dislike for spicy food.

Within the story of Fairy Tail, Alzack serves as a supporting member of the guild. He and Bisca partnered early on, and their first joint mission together earned them a treasured Lacrima snow globe keepsake. He actively participates in several major conflicts, including the defense of the guild against the Phantom Lord and the evacuation of Magnolia's citizens during that attack. His most prominent role occurs during the Battle of Fairy Tail, where he is trapped in a magical barrier that forces him to fight his allies to escape. Prioritizing the rescue of the petrified Bisca, he defeats Jet and Droy before being incapacitated by another of Freed Justine's runes. After recovering, he joins the effort to destroy the Thunder Palace Lacrima.

Alzack's key relationship is with Bisca Mulan, whom he eventually marries, taking her surname as his own to become Alzack Connell. Their relationship develops from shy teammates to a married couple with a daughter named Asuka Connell. His commitment to his family is absolute; he and Bisca even sold their treasured Lacrima snow globe to provide for their daughter, demonstrating that her future outweighs any material memento. After the seven-year disappearance of the guild's main team, Alzack and Bisca remained with Fairy Tail, and he grew to become one of its strongest and more mature members during their absence. He is a devoted father who often brings Asuka to the guild and cares for her deeply.

Alzack is a specialist in Guns Magic, a form of combat that revolves around the use of two revolvers loaded with magical bullets. These bullets never miss their target and can produce a variety of effects depending on their type. His known techniques include Tornado Shot, which generates a large tornado; Spark Shot, which electrifies enemies; Mud Shot, which creates high-pressured mud to slow opponents; and Sunlight Shot, which produces a blinding flash of light. He is highly proficient in marksmanship, recognized as a top-class sniper alongside his wife.
