Description
Libra, known as the Heavenly Scales, is a celestial spirit who belongs to the twelve golden zodiac keys. Her key is owned by the celestial wizard Yukino Aguria, a member of the Sabertooth guild. Libra first appears during the Grand Magic Games arc of Fairy Tail 2014, where she is summoned alongside Pisces and Ophiuchus to aid Yukino in battle. Libra is depicted as a curvaceous woman with dark hair tied in a style resembling ox horns. Her attire is similar to that of a belly dancer, consisting of a frilled and striped bikini top, a patterned loincloth with pom-poms at the waist, and numerous bangles on her arms and legs. She wears a thick necklace, a zigzagged headband, and a cloth over the lower part of her face that bears her zodiac sign. In her hands, she carries a pair of scales connected to thin cords that run from her fingertips, allowing her to manipulate them in a puppeteer-like fashion. Libra possesses a very quiet and serene demeanor. She rarely speaks and carries herself with an air of calm, yet she is quick to obey her owner’s commands without hesitation or question. At the same time, she appears to take subtle pleasure in having others kneel before her and follow her orders, revealing a quietly commanding presence beneath her tranquil exterior. Her primary magical ability is Gravity Change, a form of gravity magic that allows her to alter the weight and gravitational pull of a target, including herself. This power can be used offensively to pin opponents down or defensively to cancel out gravity-based effects. She also has the capability to change a person’s body shape, as demonstrated when she is summoned by Yukino to slim down Sting Eucliffe after he gains excessive weight from an eating contest. Libra plays a supporting role in the story, appearing most notably during the Grand Magic Games, where she increases the weight of Yukino’s opponent Kagura, and later when she negates the gravity zone created by the wizard Uosuke, enabling Yukino to strike with Pisces. Libra also participates in a critical moment when she and the other eleven golden zodiac spirits are summoned by both Yukino and Lucy Heartfilia to combine their power and seal the Eclipse Gate. During an anime-only arc involving Eclipse Celestial Spirits, Libra transforms into an Eclipse form due to the gate’s influence, but she is later restored to her original self after the Eclipse Celestial Spirit King is defeated, retaining no memory of the events. As a celestial spirit, Libra is immortal and cannot die unless she remains in the human world for an extended period. Her relationship with Yukino is one of loyalty and service; she follows Yukino’s instructions without argument and respects her as her master. Her interactions with other spirits are limited, but she works alongside them when needed, particularly with Pisces. Throughout the series, Libra does not undergo significant personal development, remaining consistent as a quiet, efficient, and powerful spirit who carries out her duties with unwavering obedience.
