Description
Gilbert, also known as Leo Bone, is a 13-year-old college student from America who serves as one of the Earth’s Bone Adepts, wielding the power of the Leo Bone. Unlike some of the other Bone Fighters who were chosen by their bones, Gilbert is unique in that he actively volunteered to become a Bone Fighter, driven by a personal desire to protect the Earth.

Despite his young age, Gilbert is a remarkably driven and intelligent individual, having already been accepted into an American university. This academic success is not simply a product of natural talent but is the result of immense personal effort and an unyielding work ethic. His personality is a blend of formal, gentlemanly behavior, often citing a belief in "ladies first" as a matter of principle, and a fierce, competitive, and highly confident internal nature. He frequently refers to himself as something of an ace and is prone to provocative declarations in battle, such as his assertion that nothing is impossible for him. However, this confidence is balanced by a sharp wit and a surprisingly grounded perspective, often serving as the voice of reason or the straight man among the group, as his critiques tend to be accurate and pointed.

Gilbert is extremely sensitive about being treated like a child, which is a common occurrence given his youthful appearance and status as the shortest member of the team. This insecurity contributes to his rivalry with fellow Bone Adept Shougo, whom he often views as a rival. While his rivalry initially centers on strength and combat prowess, it gradually shifts to focus more on personal matters, particularly his burgeoning feelings for Saho, a young woman he develops a crush on almost immediately upon meeting her. He frequently abandons his usual cool demeanor to seek opportunities to spend time with her, such as when he helps her with trigonometry, despite his earlier claims of having no interest in older women. His ambitions are grand, and he has expressed a desire to become the President of the United States in the future, with the intention of inviting Saho to the White House as the First Lady.

Gilbert’s role within the story is that of a powerful and proactive warrior who struggles with feeling left behind. When his comrades Shougo and Luke manage to summon Majins, unlocking new levels of power, Gilbert becomes restless and frustrated, feeling that his own strength is insufficient. This internal conflict comes to a head when he learns to listen to the "voice" of his bone, Leo, which is a key to unlocking greater potential. Through his unwavering fighting spirit and refusal to give up even in the face of overwhelming odds from enemies like the Dark Bone fighters Victor and Gregory, Gilbert achieves a profound connection with Leo Bone. This bond allows him to evolve his bone from a White Bone to an Iron Bone, making him the first of the Earth’s Bone Adepts to reach this advanced stage. His evolution paves the way for the other Bone Fighters to achieve similar growth. Despite his occasional arrogance, his philosophy is that true defeat only comes from giving up, a belief that revitalizes his allies in desperate moments.

In combat, Gilbert specializes in a technical and aggressive boxing style, channeling the power of lightning through his fists. In his base form as the White Leo Bone, his arsenal includes physical strikes empowered by electricity and a special move called Golden Rush. Upon achieving his Iron Bone form, his appearance changes, notably his shield, and he gains the more powerful Golden Mega Smash, an attack where he channels lightning into his shield. His final and most powerful form is the Rare Metal Bone, which he achieves later in the series alongside his comrades. In this form, his cape is replaced by numerous radiant, lightning-shaped wings of light, and his ultimate technique is called Lightning Impact.
