Description
Marinera Nyanko is a character who appears in the Sailor Moon Sailor Stars season. She is a true Sailor Senshi who initially serves under Sailor Galaxia as part of the group known as the Sailor Animamates. Her civilian alias in the anime is Nyanko Suzu, and her name carries a cat motif, with Nyanko being a Japanese term for cat. Marinera Nyanko comes from the planet Mau and is revealed to have killed the Sailor Senshi of that planet, Sailor Mau. She chose to work for Galaxia rather than lose her starseed, a decision similar to that presented to Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune.
Her personality is initially ambitious, cruel, and unremorseful. She is willing to eliminate anyone who gets in her way, including her fellow Animamates. In the anime, she is partly responsible for the deaths of Sailor Lead Crow and Sailor Aluminum Siren, showing a cold and calculating nature. She also learns Sailor Moon’s secret identity during her missions.
Her role in the story is that of an antagonist sent to Earth to locate and destroy the Sailor Senshi. She is the fourth Animamate to appear, and her actions directly threaten the cat guardians Luna, Artemis, and Diana.
