Description
The character known as Aster is not a recognized name for a character in the Sailor Moon metaseries, and no information exists for that specific designation. The description provided here instead covers the character commonly known as Kou Seiya, who transforms into Sailor Star Fighter, the leader of the Sailor Starlights.

Kou Seiya originates from the planet Kinmoku, a world that was destroyed by the villain Sailor Galaxia. As one of the princess’s guardians, Seiya is a Sailor Senshi from this distant star system who travels to Earth with two companions, Kou Taiki and Kou Yaten, on a desperate mission to find their missing princess, Princess Kakyuu. To blend in and effectively search for their charge, the three take on the public identities of a popular and handsome male idol group known as the Three Lights. This guise is a strategic choice, as they believe that as popular male celebrities, they can more easily attract attention and spread their music, which contains a hidden message intended to reach their princess. In the anime adaptation, this transformation into male form is a physical change, while in the original manga, the Starlights remain female in their civilian lives but dress in male clothing for their performances.

In personality, Seiya is characterized by a confident and sometimes arrogant demeanor, but this is balanced with a genuine charm and a deeply caring nature. As the leader of the Starlights and the lead vocalist of their band, Seiya displays a competitive and athletic side, particularly enjoying sports like American football. Despite a surface-level cockiness, Seiya possesses a strong will and refuses to give up or accept defeat. Seiya is often the most emotionally open and compassionate of the three Starlights, being the first to form genuine bonds with the people of Earth, which creates some friction with the more mission-focused Taiki and Yaten.

The central motivation for Seiya and the other Starlights is singular and paramount: to locate and protect Princess Kakyuu. Everything they do, from forming their idol group to enrolling in school, is in service of this goal. However, their mission becomes complicated upon meeting the series’ protagonist, Usagi Tsukino, also known as Sailor Moon. Seiya develops strong romantic feelings for Usagi, who is struggling with the absence of her boyfriend, Mamoru Chiba. Seiya affectionately nicknames Usagi "Odango," a term previously used by Mamoru, and the two grow very close, even going on dates. This relationship creates the primary romantic tension of the final story arc, as Seiya’s feelings are ultimately not fully reciprocated, with Usagi seeing Seiya primarily as a dear friend.

Throughout the story, Seiya serves as a key ally to Sailor Moon and the other Solar System Sailor Senshi, though their relationship is initially fraught with suspicion, particularly from the Outer Senshi like Haruka Tenoh. As the threat of Sailor Galaxia escalates, Seiya and the Starlights fight alongside the Earth’s guardians. Seiya’s character shows significant development, moving from a single-minded focus on finding Princess Kakyuu to a broader investment in protecting the Earth and its people, largely due to the influence of Usagi’s kindness and inner strength. In the end, after Galaxia is defeated and Princess Kakyuu is revived, Seiya must accept that Usagi’s heart belongs to Mamoru. The Starlights bid a heartfelt farewell to their friends on Earth and return to their home planet to begin rebuilding.

As a Sailor Senshi, Seiya transforms into Sailor Star Fighter using the command "Fighter Star Power, Make Up". The Sailor Star Fighter uniform is distinct from the Solar System Senshi, consisting of a navy blue two-piece outfit with a bikini-style top and matching hotpants, worn with long gloves, boots, and a tiara adorned with a star. Sailor Star Fighter’s primary offensive ability is the Star Serious Laser, a powerful beam attack that can be used to destroy or weaken enemies. As the leader, Sailor Star Fighter is portrayed as a brave and determined warrior, whose dedication to both her princess and her newfound friends drives her actions in battle.
