Description
Prince Diamant, known as Prince Diamond in the English dub, is the leader of the Black Moon Clan, also called the Negamoon Family, in the anime Sailor Moon R. He rules the planet Nemesis in the 30th century, a cold and desolate world that served as a prison planet. His people are descendants of criminals rather than criminals themselves, and his original intention was to approach Neo-Queen Serenity and reason with her about his people's situation. Over time, however, the mysterious Wiseman slowly manipulated the young prince, turning him bitter and unforgiving toward the people of Earth, whom he blamed for his people's harsh exile. He viewed the citizens of Crystal Tokyo as corrupt because of their extended lifespans, and this resentment became the basis for his campaign against them.
His personality is marked by pride, intensity, and a deep vulnerability to manipulation. He trusts Wiseman's counsel even when his younger brother Sapphire warns against it. His most defining trait is his overwhelming obsession with Neo-Queen Serenity. During an attack on Crystal Tokyo, he catches a glimpse of her and falls in love, becoming fascinated with her eyes and the anger they hold toward him. This fixation consumes him, and he spends hours gazing at a holographic projection of her. His obsession eventually drives him to kidnap her past self, the teenage Sailor Moon, and attempt to brainwash her with his third eye so she will become his queen.
As the secondary antagonist of the Sailor Moon R story, he leads the assault against Crystal Tokyo and the Sailor Guardians from the past, seeking to destroy the future kingdom and reshape history in his favor. He is a powerful adversary who can fight the Sailor Guardians directly. His Black Moon symbol can transform into a third eye on his forehead, which can stun opponents, control their minds, or harm them. He can also fire powerful energy blasts from his hands, and he wears a diamond pendant that reflects his name. His appearance is that of a young adult man with white hair cut to ear length and purple eyes.
